On Channel 10 News I saw Leigh Matthews say he would not want to see a match like Essendon V North Melbourne every week.

I can believe he said that.

Am I wrong in saying it is far more exciting to see a match like that, instead of one that is a low scoring game full of flooding?

Maybe what he means is that if we had an exceptional game like that every week then it would no longer be exceptional!

Bit like bad sex - it is necessary to occasionally have it so get get some perspective on how good good sex is!

I was shocked at Leigh's comments at first...but then again...you're not going to get many games like that. We learn to appreciate and cherish games like this as they are a rarity. If all games were played like yesterdays, football might once again be accused of being boring.

But then again...attacking footy is good footy (as a spectacle). No one could argue after what 52,000 witnessed yesterday afternoon.

I don't see a problem with his comments. It was an exceptional and memorable match.....and more of them would lessen the impact of just what an exceptional match it was.

Has anybody here heard what he said or read what he said?

His comments had nothing to do with playing games like that every week - he reckons that it's not good for a team's defense to let so many goals in like Essendon and North did.

Of course it isnt - but both sides midfields and foreward lines were on fire - that first half no matter where it was, North couldnt bloody miss! We played a very acurate second half as well.

It was an exceptional game of footy, and I reckoned he just opened his mouth for the sake of it.

Both sides played very well, and as Footy isnt a defensive game, at a similar level forewards should beat defenders. It's not like soccer were goals arnt expected, in our game goals are expected by forewards.

I mean, he didnt comment on the unbelievable kicking for goal, just bagged the defense. When the ball was being moved that quickly and so efficiently there isnt much the defense can do.

Typical reply from a Victorian.

How is it a typical reply from a Victorian? We all know Leigh Matthews has managed to have a huge sook about something or other nearly every week since he started to coach the Lions.

And Rocket Eade, well when was the last time he coached in a match where 32, let alone 52 goals were scored? Even Sydney supporters must acknowledge their team is the most defensive and boring in the league to watch.

32 goals in a match involving Sydney this season - four
32 goals in a match involving Hawthorn this season - two

Makes Hawthorn pretty boring, I guess.

Can use statistics to prove whatever you want, just ask Dan! For example, Hawthorn have kicked 72 more points for than the Swans as well as conceding 75 more points - so I could therefore say the Swans are more boring to watch.

But my point is, even Sydney fans would be the first to admit most of their games this season have been terrible to watch. By all reports the Sydney v Freo match was the worst in memory, and the games I've seen them play against the Hawks and the Tigers were both absolutely terrible as well.

Funny, I really enjoyed the Sydney v Hawthorn game.

The only reason that there weren't 32 goals scored in that game is that the kicking for goal was dreadful (both sides). I'm not sure what significance 32 goals has but it's your number.

I'm recorded as saying that Sydney v Fremantle is the worst game I've ever seen. Not because of defensive tactics but because of absolutely woeful skill levels.

However, I did see the Hawthorn v Fremantle game on the telly earlier this year and I seem to recall it was pretty sh|tful as well...
