With a lot of regular contributors on this forum, I just thought I'd ask the most difficult and revered question of all.

In your answers, I'd suggest you don't answer footy, because that is the "obvious" answer on a footy forum. I was hoping to get a bit more open-minded about it.

Dan, I would love a serious discussion on this but it would need to be off forum. You could email me.

On a different note I have to say that the meaning of life is 47.

47 is also the correct answer to any question posed in life.

eg, who was a better player than Ablett?
Answer 47

Who will win the nexxt flag?
answer 47

Is this forum sometimes weird?
answer 47

I mean we could live the perfect life, and be totally happy and content. We could have enormous influence and prestige, but once you die, what does it matter ? Civilization will just continue. And for what ?

There was a Freudian theory about 42 which was disproved at the 15th Ordinational Ternoconference. The problem was due to divisability and i'm afraid 24 has the same problems. On the other hand 47 was proven without doubt to be the answer. On a card voting system all delagates responded with 47 proving they were not only right but also correct.

Seriously though Dan.

If you are religious, no matter what religion, the way you live this life has direct impact on your next life. So you should live this life honestly, with empathy for others and honour at all times.

If you are not religious then it comes down to being truly happy. That is different for everybody. For most that would be following their passions, having good strong friendships, finding true love and earning respect from others.

For me, I am not religious but do believe in the philosophies of the bible without ever believing the book is anything other than a work of fiction which has been extremely well marketed. I therefore do not believe in an afterlife so my actions now will have no effect on my 'soul'.

Now, what holds the most meaning for me? My family, especially my children. As youngsters the human species is at its most vulnerable for the longest period of any animal on earth. The responsibility of not just parents but all adults is to give the kids a safe, respectful, enjoyable place to live.

One of my kids has a medical problem that makes life difficult for him at times. To give him the confidence and support to allow him to live a relatively normal life is a full time job, but it is a job I love.

So, my answer to the meaning of life?
To be a role model for children that you would like to have yourself. To give support and encouragement to them no matter what they want to do.

That deep enough for ya Dan?

Dan, you're thinking too much again. But my opinion on your question is:

Everybody has a different view on the meaning of life. Nobody thinks the exact same way, and that's good because life would be dull.

We are all born on this planet with a purpose. Some people realise their purpose, others take a lot longer. Above all, life is what you make of it. Some choose to sit on their arses, some choose to make something of themselves. All we can do is make the best of what we are given. We are supposed to make mistakes. Mistakes are lessons within themselves.

That's life!

The meaning of life??? The reason we were put on this earth???? Well to me, it's being the best damn person you can be, finding that special person who completes you, if you're lucky (and I have been

) and just generally making sure you get this life as right as you can, so you can enjoy lots of good karma in the next.

I have yet to find the meaning of life.

Though to me, so far, in my journey of life, it is family and friends. Money is nothing without those 2 things. Friends are always there to help you through things and basically to have a great time with. Family also help you through things but also to make you feel part of a group, part of life. We share things, we sharer a home, we share .... life in general.

So in other words, life is family and friends.

And another thing. The purpose of life is death. We live to die. We die to live.

I think in another way too, you realise the meaning of life when you realise that life is a very precious gift. It's sad to see so many people giving up that gift for the sake of drugs, depression, or just not being brave enough to get out there and live it. You never really know when it may be taken from you. Perhaps that is the meaning of life.
