Why are we allergic to the 8? We would have already been sitting in the 8 if we hadn't given Freo their first win at the G in 6 years, then we nearly blew it against GWS. Then we set ourselves up with a great first quarter against Adelaide (which would have seen us in the 8) and we then lost and then today.

And this is after the years and years of losing matches that could have seen us play finals. All the staff are different, all the players are different. So what is wrong at Tigerland? Is there something seriously wrong with our culture? Everytime we seem to get to set ourselves up in the 8, we lose. No matter who we play or the winning position we are in.

Why is this?

An entrenched mindset of decades. The albatross still hangs heavy. After so long the stench has soaked right in and has become very difficult to get out. Finishing at least eighth on at least a semi-regular basis is really not that hard.

Still should of won tonight, though what do you expect when in the last 2 weeks we have had 10 changes in the squad, its thrown our chemistry and structures up in the air..

Our fairly decent run of injuries/lack of key suspensions (Martin etc.) combined with the natural media hype, and the parochial nature of our supporters has masked what most of us knew would be a problem all along, being a lack of depth.

There's a breaking point to how far you can go with changes before you're actually a completely different side. We witnessed part of it last week, and we copped the full extent this week.

chemistry is a crap excuse. they train together. lets look at collingwood, midfielders go out new ones come in, they're at your club and when someone new is out on the field that day, they must be there because the coaching staff believe he deserves to play, so you trust them with the ball. you give it off to him and they trust the next person.

Depth is no excuse. We were winning with 3 mins to go. Last week we smashed Adelaide in the first quarter and then got done. Against Freo we had most of our team in and were still $1.22 favourites or something. It's not injuries. We were in a winning position in all those games and they all would have seen us in the 8 and yet we lost them all in the last quarter.

When it's 2 minutes to go and your up 11 points and loose the game in the last 25 sec it doesnt fullstop you should win.
You're right, it was a mentally weak effort.

Now take out the spuds, and throw in your Martin's, King's, Foley's, hell even Jacko if you want.

Do you believe the same thing would have happened? IMO, it wouldn't have. Therefore, I believe the changes to have had an affect on those last few minutes. I'm not disputing what actually eventuated as being anything other than mentally weak either.

Can hardly use the 'trust' thing at Collingwood to compare with our situation. They believe those blokes deserve to play and trust them because they ARE good enough to play. It's called DEPTH and we don't have it. Surely we all knew that long before today.

The difference with Collingwood is that most of their most of their list has been developing in the last 5, 6 or more years, learning and learnt the system in their 2s that are not affiliated and hence play week in week out to the system. i.e player x can be selected and its like plugging in another robot that knows what his role is and how to play it. We are nowhere near that as yet, it takes at least 5 or 6 even 7 years of list development and education before most of the list know how to execute the system.
Here we had Webberley in and subbed literally in 3 seconds...the thing that shits me is, that if someone was gunna be that bad, then we have serious problems in the brains trust dept, because they selected him so they obviously have NFI and hit and hope.
