You didn't see him miss a goal from 20 mtrs out almost dead in front to win the game against North Melb. in the VFL this year.

Had ample time to show he could make it, just wasn't up to AFL standard

To be fair to Brand I remember Burgers and Bruest both missing goals from 20m out in last years final series.

His kicking for goal might be suspect as you state but to me his kicking ability as a key back was at least on par with Frawley, if not slightly better (just an eye test, no figures to back that up).
