The worst injury I have had was a broken finger , back in 93 when I was in Grade 6. we were trying out and practising for the up coming inter school athletics comp. I was doing the crossball when someone threw me the ball but it hit the top of my finger and it broke. ahhhhhh.

When I was on my yr 10 ski camp, On the last day just be4 we left the slopes most of us had started a snow fight. as I went down to pick up some snow I mustve tiwsted suddenly and I strained my knee, there is nothing worse trying to get off a ski lift in pain than having a 3 1/2 hour drive home in a cramped up bus.

But besides those I have rolled my ankle a few times while playing softball.

About three years ago I broke my leg while playing Cricket, it was a compound fracture and I needed surgery so I was on crutches for eleven months and it ended my football career as well. My operation happened around the same time Collingwood pumped Richmond and I remember waking up during the second half and enjoying the win.

Worst Injury

The worst Injury that I have had was when I slit my knee open.
We were playing footy on the oval at school and I had to run out onto the gravel to pick up the ball and I slipped up and slit my knee open. I didn't think that it was that bad because I do it all the time, I kept playing. However it didn't stop bleeding. I decided to go get a band-aid to stop it bleeding. The Secretery/Nurse told me she wasn't touching it, so she took me to the Medical Clinic. I had to get four stitches (wow).

The worst thing is that it was on my Birthday. Badluck

When i was 8 and very stupid, i was sitting on this little wall at school and my friend was next to me and she pushed me off. Problem was i wasn't quick enough and i fell on my right knee and broke my knee cap!
The only thing i can tell you is that the pain was so bad i passed out.... (i was only 8, give me a break!).
I had a wheelchair for a bit (coz i hated the cruches) and it was fun except i drove the nurses crazy racing up and down the hall. ;)
The worse part though was the physio for the next year and having liquid formed in my knee and having to have it sucked out.... anyways the whole thing was grotty and extremly painful and i owe it all to my friend! :D

My knee is really weak, I often have to miss netball and PE. It is triggered by the easiest thing, if I miss a stair or step in a hole, it could put me out of netball. :( It tends to ache a lot. I have this huge lump on my knee that, according to the physio, will never go away.
I had the ankle version of that, not funny at all

I also badly strained the ligament that joins my leg to my hip, couldn't move without feeling I had been shot!

I also did something to my knee, had to wear a brace for 6 months, it used to lock and i couldn't move it, now i just get minor troubles every now and then

Worst injury by far has to be the one I've done this year.

Playing footy in May, went up for a huge mark and came down with my right foot on someone elses ankle/boot.
My ankle rolled and cracked, the pain was so dodgy I could hardly move.
Turned out I had torn ligaments in my ankle, fractured a bone in my ankle and partially broken a bone that only 10% fo people have in there.

So After the swelling went down, I had an operation to remove my partially broken bone, had a pin put into the other bone and some scar tissue taken out.

Was in hospital for about a week and have been in physio ever since.
So it looks like another year or so at least till I can get back to footy.

I have another story from my primary school days, about the same knee, but that is for another time.

This happened in 1992. I was in grade 6

I was playing a game called Kickball. The rules are the same as Baseball, but we use a Soccer ball, and the player from the opposition rolled the ball to you, rather than throw it to you.

A player kicked the ball, and it went right over my head. I ran to get it, and tripped over. I got up, and looked at my knee, which at the start looked ok. But then a few seconds later, when I looked again, the blood was going everywhere.

I was taken to the sick bay. To give you an idea of how my knee looked, it was described as mince meat.

I was taken to the local doctor, and as their was stones and dirt in the knee, they cleaned it out.

I was on crutches for about 6 weeks, and I was not allowed to bend my knee at all, which was fun. Even more so when you think that our shower is as old as ours is. Our shower is in our bath. So, I had to try and get into the bath, and sit down without bending my knee.

Anyway, I was not allowed to kick the footy around for 10 weeks. I was shattered because back in those days, I kicked the footy around just about every day. To miss 10 weeks was a real blow for me. And, I missed playing the first two weeks of school footy, which I hated, because in one of those matches, our school played against our most hated school. And boy did we hate them. And, that was a game that I had really wanted to play in.

I have the huge purple scar to prove the injury.

It looks like I fractured my ankle this morning. Grrr. I was getting of a train. One minute I was on a train, the next minute I was on the ground and couldn't get up. Stayed at work all day, but couldn't get home. The worst thing is, the only people who showed any concern were a couple of schoolkids. You should see the size of the egg on the side of my ankle, it's disgusting!

Then at lunchtime a woman stole my fish and chips to give to her dog.

Haven't had a great day.

OK THIS YOU GOTTA HEAR!

It was the 18th os september 1998.
It was the eve of the big showdown between the Doggies and Crows, and I was getting excited. It wouldve been about 5:30pm on the Friday, 2 hours before the Kangaroos and Melbourne game got underway. So I was bored, and decided to play AFL on the trampoline. I was having so much fun that I didnt want to stop playing AFL by throwing the ball up, and taking screamers in the air. I then started to play some Rugby after 15 minutes, as I was getting tired of marking. So I was throwing the ball up, catching it in mid air, and slaming the ball down for a try on the springs. After doing this for 5 minutes the ball fell off the trampoline, so I decided to jump off and get it.

I was wearing socks at the time, so that made it slippery. I jumped off the trampoline and landing in the garden, to get the ball. As I landing in the garden, I thought it was kool, landing so softly onto bark and grass. So I decided to deliberetly throw the ball into the garden again so I can get the ball.

BAD MISTAKE, VERY BAD MISTAKE.
As I was about to jump off the trampoline, I slipped as my socks were slippery. I then went sideways, and fell on a pointy rock, landing with all my preasure on my left arm.
For 2 seconds after landing on the rock It went all blury, but I didnt seem to notice anything bad. I then looked at my left arm, and I went all dizzy, and noticed something was killing me. After I stopped getting a blury vision, I noticed my arm was completely out of place, and looked like a half pipe.

The pain was killing me, and I ran inside to get my mum, and she almost fainted.

What had actually happened, is I had broken the two major bones in my arm, with one of them pertruding through my arm.
Blood was pooring out a far bit, and 20 minutes later I was in the Werribee hospital. In their I got Teatnus shot, and they put me on morphine. They pain was so bad I felt like crying, but I just couldnt do that, I couldnt act like a Baby!

From the Werribee hospital, I was then ambulanced to the childrens hospital, where I had surgery and stayed in the hospital whilst listening to the Bulldogs get thumped by the Crows

Acute sciatica (as well as scoliosis) which caused an almost endless series of groin/hamstring/quad tears, as well as unbearable pain in the lower back and upper legs. Almost ended up in a wheelchair, but was saved due to some very competent physiotherapy and a lot of gym work!
