So I did. What do the people of GD/BigFooty do with their working lives? We've all seen how many hours you all work, so what are you all spending that time doing?

I'm part time at Bunnings (over 5 days) in the trade section. Includes working the register at the desk, helping arseh*le customers and putting stock away/picking orders etc. Oh and checking Cricinfo regularly :p

I work for a software development company that sells construction software. Small business with connections to Viewpoint software who are like our parent but don't actually own us. Just IT support and software supports but also SQL report building and other development things. 149 companies across Australia and NZ + 1 in Thailand. (That last bit is to answer your question from Friday night TurtleMaster)

****ing love the job. I could easily be earning more money elsewhere but I doubt I'd be as happy as I am here. Very very relaxed and fun work environment.

Edit: New sale today, 150 customers.

Business Analyst in food and hospitality industry. Track promotions, sales, traffic, share, store units, consumer perceptions, advertising etc. Involves a bit of travel, number crunching and a lot of presentations. Really enjoy it.

As of last night I'm unemployed and it feels good man. Spend tomorrow moving out of our apartment, then 3 weeks in Asia and a return to live in France for 3-5 years where my wife and I will be opening a food truck"

Pleasantly surprised by the result of this poll and that most people do like their job! But that's the way it should be as we spend such a big chunk of our day /week/life at work so what a waste if it's not enjoyable or meaningful . Wonder if all the people who voted yes would work if they no longer had to ? (I'd work regardless of how much money I had as long as my health allowed it, but I would probably do fewer hours)

I'd be bored shitless if I didn't have to work. Not enough things to fill up all day everyday.

Could be doing a whole lot more and am certainly capable of a whole lot more, but sometimes it's not as easy as just going and getting a job you'll have a ball in or it just isn't practical to wait around for such a thing when you need to make money to pay bills. I do what I have to do to survive and that's it really.

Any chance you have open positions at this company?

I too work for a software development company but am looking for something new and finding the market very limited. Used to love my job but things have gone to shit in the last 18 months and now I need a fresh start ASAP

Agree. Work keeps people young/active/gives a sense of purpose. I'd miss the work itself (+the social aspect), but I also think I'd age prematurely

Working in retail while I'm at uni still. It's pretty shitty but I can't complain as I should be able to land a decent job next year once I've graduated.

I do private tutoring on the side for VCE students and love that, it's really rewarding when they improve and it's decent coin too per hour.
