What is your most prized possession?

In terms of material possessions; my 1974 bay window 1800cc Kombi and my 2 edition original set of Charles Lyell's Principles of Geology, published in 1837 (a work influential on his good friend, Charles Darwin).

Non-material; my family (wife, kids, 2 whippets).

Non-material wins over material every time...

I would hope so!

2 nominations one admittedly rather lame.

The not so lame one is a really well travelled suede jacket I bought the week I started uni for an unbelievable $50. Over the last decade I've travelled all over the world with it, pulled many a time wearing it, walked home blind in it, slept in a snow drift in it, driven, cycled, flown and on at least one occasion accidentally swam in it. It's been through basically every relationship I've had, and was worn for some of the least pleasant break ups. The kinds of fluids, food stuffs and miscellaneous organic material that have been drycleaned off it could fill a forensic manual, it still looks fine. A year or so ago I stopped wearing it out regularly after a friend openly bagged it as my 'Seinfeld' jacket, but its still on standby in the wardrobe for the late night servo runs and travel when I'm roughing it.

The lame one is my notice of admission. I know a lot of lawyers don't even know where there's is, but for me it was a huge deal and whenever I see it it reminds me how much I wanted to be a lawyer, how much work went into it, and why it'd probably be a good idea not to do anything to screw it up.

Reminds me of a Piping Hot black corduroy jacket with a tarten inside lining I bought in the late 90s from a surf store.

About the only time I've bought something straight off the rack that fitted me perfectly, bought if half price too as the place was having a closing down sale.

I was living in a sharehouse with a hipster type girl at the time who was always bagging me for my shit taste in clothing and when she saw me wearing that jacket she was like , she couldn't fathom that I could buy such a stylish jacket and thought someone had helped me buy it.

I've still got that jacket buried away somewhere but I could wear it out today and it would still look stylish, it's a timeless jacket.

will continue the trend of the thread...

Don't really have any possessions that I would be too cut up about if I were to no longer have them - But I am very much attached to my piano and numerous guitars (acoustic, electric, bass, ukuleles) - However, at the same time, I'm not so much attached to those specific instruments, just the utility of them.

Would go bat shit crazy without any instruments in the house.......

oh... and my woollen Crows guernsey circa '91 - collar and all :D
