Ah, yes.

The 'cant wait for next year' attitude.

I'm quite sure you would have thought that at some point over the previous 5-6 seasons.

How's that worked out? I'm pretty sure we've continued to regress year after year.

But definitely, next year.......

Yep, I have said the same thing to myself every year too the last few. And will say it again next year after about round 4 or 5 when we have got off to a shit start again with the same old team and coach.

I am trying to burn that second half from my memory, give up 50 points in under a half of footy, WTF?

That first half however. That was some seriously enjoyable football to watch. That was top 4 type football. I was excited. I haven't felt excited watching us for a long time.

And enough of the g banger talk. It's disturbing.

Collingwood's first draw since the 2010 Grand Final, which had mixed emotions, reactions & results. Collingwood had a 50-point lead early in the 3rd quarter, which did not preclude Adelaide from kicking goals at will, as they attempted to salvage their reputation, and ultimately saved it on the final siren. Daniel Wells (34 disposals, 9 marks, 6 Inside 50's, 5 clearances, 15 score involvements & 3 goals), Taylor Adams (34 disposals, 15 contested possessions, 8 clearances & 3 goals) & Collingwood captain Steele Sidebottom (33 disposals & 18 contested possessions) were Collingwood's best players, with support from Jeremy Howe (31 possessions & 9 marks), Adam Treloar (27 disposals, 12 tackles, 10 contested possessions & one goal), Matthew Scharenberg (24 possessions & 11 marks), Brodie Grundy (21 disposals, 15 contested possessions & 40 hit-outs) & Darcy Moore (14 disposals, 8 marks & one goal). Honourable mentions to Jamie Elliott (15 disposals, 7 Inside 50's, 5 marks and 1 goal), Will Hoskin-Elliott (16 disposals & 1 goal), Alex Fasolo (16 disposals, 8 contested possessions, 5 marks & 5 tackles) Tom Langdon (21 disposals, 8 contested possessions & 5 marks) & Levi Greenwood who was very good on Rory Sloane. Sloane only had 16 disposals, while Greenwood had 12 disposals & 10 tackles. For Adelaide, Matt Crouch (36 disposals, 15 contested possessions, & 10 tackles) kept his team in the hunt, as did the hero of the game; Mitch McGovern. Kicked 4 goals and took 8 marks. Richard Douglas, Rory Laird & Brodie Smith lifted after Half Time for the Crows, while Sam Jacobs (14 disposals, 39 hit-outs, 5 tackles & 4 clearances) did his bit without being brilliant. Next game for Collingwood will be against North Melbourne @ Etihad Stadium on August 5, following the VFL game against Werribee at the same venue.

Toovey the last 4 years was putrid, one of the most overrated footballers to ever put on the jumper, small forwards kicked bags on him week in week out, kicking was awful turned it over by foot a rediclous amount.

Maynard offers so much more it's not funny.

Maynard doesn't hold a candle defensively to Toovey as his defensive best. Yeah the Toovey of the last 4 years was complete shit but that's not the Toovey I was talking about.

Is that your review or copied in from somewhere?

I've finally gone from ****ing livid to ****ing annoyed so I think I'm ready to post this highlight from the match.

I ran into the great man TradeDraft ranting to himself as we were exiting the ground. He summed up my feelings perfectly because at that very moment I was weighing up whether a broken hand was worth punching the nearest wall on the way out. Sanity prevailed because I'm still pissed off but with no broken hand.

+50 contested ball
+9 clearances
+8 inside 50s
+12 tackles

Unbelievable how a team can't win with these numbers.

We scored 103 points, but our dominant midfield masks over the fact our forward line was largely ineffective. Our ballistic pressure and effort in the first half was magnificant, but we can't rely on that every week #sameproblems

The Dogs v Essendon game was said to be the game of the year, I thought the Pies v Adelaide was clearly better, one of the best games of footy you will see for a long time. Adelaide were umbelievable in the second half, not as good as us against them in 2011 at the Dome, but close to it.

I don't think it's slashing wrists stuff. Especially considering we aren't playing finals and they are on top of the ladder. And it was the game of the year... so far.

Efficiency. 15.13 to 16.7.... there's your short answer.

The sad thing for me is that I'm rarely surprised these days by what we serve up.... Even when we got out to 50 I knew game wasn't over, and when we blew it at the end I was not shocked.

It's almost as if mediocrity has become the norm, as I don't even find myself getting that upset about losses... and I consider myself a relatively devoted fan who spends countless hours thinking about and reading about this club.

Guess it all boils down to expectations and sadly after 4 years of this just 'blah' position we find ourselves in, that I subconsciously expect us to loiter between 11-14th forever.

Yes we're playing young blokes, but I also feel a lot of our players are already in their prime and not sure how much improvement we get from this group beyond natural development of Moore, Grundy, De Goey & Maynard - and every club could point out 4 players in their side that they expecr to see improve and take them forwqrd. Most others in the side alreay at their peak or past it.

Still, we saddle up again next week - but I feel a more concerted youth policy and rebuild via the draft is the only way forward - I just hope those running the club agree and don't try and tweak via trades/FA.

Clarkson is not available....who else?
Certainly should consider Brett Ratten. Why?

1. Got a very medoicre Carlton team - lacking a sequence of first-round draft choices - into the finals ar least twice during his tenure.

2. Has played at & coached at a big Melbourne club.

3. Spent the last 4 or 5 years under Clarkson at Hawthorn.

4. Is not a rookie coach such as Mark Neeld or Scott Watters or Gerard McCartney.

5. Comes from another club/clubs.

6. Was a hard & grity & tough mid-fielder who played a pivotal roe in Carlton's 95 Premiership.

7. At times wore his heart on his sleeve and would get publicly angry.

Anyway in my opinion warrants serious consideration.

I was actually expecting us to win today ...

... and then win the next three ...

... and then play the last game of the season with a finals berth on the line, but go down by a kick after the siren.

How has he blown his job?

I think ppl calling for Bucks to be sacked at years end must remember there are no decent current coaches available next year. The only current coach who would see Bucks removed as coach would be Clarkson, and that isnt going to happen. The only current coach who could come in is Brad Scott, and for me thats a like for like.
Getting a unproven coach at senior AFL level isnt going to mean instant success. Bucks has 6 years of coaching under his belt, and l think his first 120 games as a coach, his record is better than Clarkson's.
I think the uproar about our list is overblown in the media, and really we are one key position player away from being a top 8 side. Thats why the club needs to pursue a Lever, McGovern or Reid.
I posted that Bucks should be extended to 2019 as l really believe he has the playing group behind him and they want to have success for him, a new coach would have to rebuild that belief from scratch.

Putting aside the whether or not bucks should be moved or not, are you suggesting bucks is the #2 coach in the comp?

In regards to list, we suffer from the same hopes all mid table sides have, some good performances lull you into thinking we're not far off. But this year is likely to be the 5th year finishing in the middle third of the ladder. We are a mid table side, more of the same will see the same results and one kpp isn't going to change that, we need to reevaluate our list, we have a team of solid citizens and need more top end talent across the board to become contenders.

I like Ratten and his resumè but heard the players didn't like him. Might be absolute bull crap but who knows

They would still be learning and nowhere near it. Hasn't some of our finest on here absolutely got stuck into Moore and Degoey, I'm sure a look at some posters comments on them two since coming in would back this up. Seems everyone thinks everyone is shit at some time

Who cares if they're still learning? We're not ready for a flag tilt anyway. In fact Treloar will be finishing up if we do get to that point with De Goey Moore ect hitting their primes

Lets face it mate. They stole a draw. We should have won well, but didn't. Them's the breaks.
Had 6 more scoring shots & hit the post 3 times. They will be saying their hail Mary's tonight. But good on em. they hung in there & got something out of the game. They are a better team than us & we were a better team on the day.

You are having a laugh.

He kicked it 50m away from goal towards Moore.

Whether it was 5 or 10m closer to the boundary would have made no difference, as none of the 4 players we had around the ball decided to fly.

It wasn't a poor decision, it could have been closer to the boundary, but if Moore, DeGoey, Wells or Sidey actually contest the ball instead of all staying down....we win.

It is ridiculous to blame Langdon.

Blame him? I don't attribute the draw purely to that poor decision or on Langdon, as I said I thought he was excellent in the first half went quiet in the 2nd half mostly barring the final minutes.
Team stopped working hard and also started playing selfish footy in the 3rd Treloar and Degoey on 2 occasions come to mind had free pies in better positions but tried to do it all and missed had they goals or team mates we would of killed the momentum in the 3rd.

It makes a difference if he spots up a pie close to boundary rather then more central to a Crow. It was a poor choice of target/area.

The players who let Kelly mark uncontested cost us the game.

P iss weak.

Yeah, a lot of errors across the 4 quarters, not sure why any 1 is more important than any other.

If I was going to look at this game without bias.. Goldsack and Dunn are the first 2 I'd show the door to. Stick with Shazam Crisp Maynard and Howe down back and make our defence water tight with 2 quality young to mid aged kpb's. Hopefully McLarty explodes onto the scene next yr and we get another good 1 in the trade.

Dunn is rated the 2nd best one on one defender in the league and you want him dropped.
I dont think so.
