What kind of players does your club need for next season?

For the lions we would DEFINATELY need a decent half-forward (although Jon Brown may come on next season) and a half back to replace Adam Heuskes.

What about your club?

We need another traditional-type full foward, another tall defender, another tall spare parts type player (who can rotate through the ruck - CHF - CHB) and a pacy wingman to take over from Stuart Maxfield (who ain't getting younger)

Full Foward - I would love Scotty Cummings but thats not going to happen. Sav Rocca would be a possibility, as would Jason Heatley but these two are gambles at best. We will probably end up with Daniel Bradshaw, if anyone.

Tall defender - Mal Michael would be just fime thanks Magpies !

Tall spare parts player - Again Mal Michael would fit in beautifully, we already have Simon Feast and Jason Ball who do these jobs but if the Bombers are getting rid of Alessio - I won't say no.

Wingman - Take your pick, Ricky O'loughlin would fit in nicely, if hes available.

BSA today in the Herald Sun Eade rejected that Sydney were at all interested in Sav Shocca.

Apparently in the Sun Herald 2 days ago they said they were out of the race for Gehrig as well

Yeah - fair enough

I don't think we ever really took the idea seriously, Sav is too slow, lacks good hand skills and misses too much.

Sav might still be able to save his career, I would not be surprised to see him pull on a Crows jumper next year, god knows they need some forwards ...

otherwise expect Sav to go to the States and be a punter in the NFL - needs to improve his 'hang time' though.

As you know I am most definitely NOT a Fraser Gehrig fan so am rather relieved that he isn't coming up.

cheers

I know it's obvious but we desperately need a quality ruckman, no point having good on ballers if the opposition always gets it.

What the Hawks really need is at least one small crumbing forward (come back soon Lordy) to hold onto Chick (must must must do this) an in and under type such as Ratten/West/Fletcher (Callaghan has been mentioned in a swap for Collica here, sounds okay to me).
The Rucks could be left alone if Thommo and BOF can both get fit enough. Croad can play FF so that might mean another CHB though Rawlings is capable there. As Happy said a rebound defender who can hit a target. And at least two quick mid fielders. Cindy if he gets the form of 99 back is one. Maybe Bateman might be the other.

All up i reckon where in reasonably good shape, depth is the major problem but where not alone in that boat.

Port need to find a couple of key defenders - not immediately, but as back-up and longer term replacements for the veterans Mead and Paxman. The Wakelin twins would do nicely - Shane is out of contract this year and Daryl next year I believe.

Like gold are hard-at-it midfielders such as Ratten, Ricciuto, etc. Probably won't be anyone like that available though. I reckon Michael Wilson has the class to develop into that role, especially with youngsters like Josh Carr and Brent Guerra able to take on the tagging role that Wilbur has had in recent years.

Brett Montgomery's experience was very valuable to Port this year, so I think we should go for a couple more seasoned campaigners (SO LONG AS THEY DON'T HAVE CHRONIC INJURY PROBLEMS) to help the development of our young brigade. An experienced key forward would really help take the pressure off Tredrea, Lockwood and Cornes.

Rooboy,

No, I haven't heard anything from the club, but in a supporter's discussion group I belong to his name is often touted as one for trading. Now who would you like to offer in return...?
