I'm sorry for disagreeing with you again d4e, but please know that a lot of what you write I do agree with :)

I don't think threats like that are the answer. I think our club has to show faith in its players and its coach. They can do that by letting them know that their positions are secure at least in the short term. Maybe I'm wrong about this, but it seems to me that telling a player that his time is up if he hasn't improved by the end of the season puts too much pressure on him, particularly if he is young. They need instead to know that they are being supported by the club so they can build a sense of comraderie (sp?) and become a true team.

Again I think the pressure should be lifted off Judge to an extent, and some faith in him should be shown. We all pretty much accept that we're in for a dry spell, so let's give him some breathing space to do what he thinks is right. I think it's analogous to the argument for increasing the time a government has in between elections. If a government is elected, and they know that the next election is sooner rather than later, then they will spend their time getting votes and pointscoring, rather than attacking the real issues and making visionary changes that take time, thus never really getting their nation anywhere. I'm not sure if I explained that properly............ :)

Thats a good point McKenna for PM, too much pressure on players could hinder their development.

My thinking was that if players realise that they don't have a guaranteed spot in the team they'll lift their performances. Sort of what happened with Shannon Grant at Nth, he was dumped for a week and when he came back he statistically played the best game of any player this season. He realised he has to earn his position.

I guess there has to be a balance, players need to earn their spots but also should have a chance to redeem themselves after a few bad games.

Morrison being dumped might be the turning point of his season. It might also destroy his confidence.
