I liked Andy Collins it would be good to stick it to Carlton though
You should stick it to Carlton like you did a few years back when you took Trent Knobel with the pick before us.

Every time Eddie Betts kicks a goal I thank the Richmond Football Club for sticking it to us.

I'm not sure Port would be up for it. Any club that's deep in rebuild can't afford to take on such a risky project. Could you imagine the effect he could have on such a young group?
Can you imagine the effect being mentored by Wanganeen, Cockatoo-Collins & Pickett would have on a troubled young man?

Port Adelaide's indigenous programs are second to none, we have a history going back many decades of working with any who have needed help.

Dayle Garlett would end up another success story with Port Adelaide.

I wasn't aware they had such a good program.
He needs to go to a club that can handle him. Port might be one of them but the consequences could be pretty significant for them if he continues or worsens with his behavioural issues.

An eighteen year old rookie pick shouldn't be an influential character at a club like Fevola was at Carlton. Worth the risk if all they lose is a rookie pick while the reward could be an elite player.

This is true.
By all indications he won't be picked as a rookie. Pretty likely that he'll drop only as low as Essendon in the PSD.

Aboriginal Power Cup

Power Community Ltd has joined forces with the Government of South Australia and Santos to run a unique program targeted at Aboriginal students – the Aboriginal Power Cup.

With a competitive football carnival as its centrepiece, the Aboriginal Power Cup focuses on engaging young people in education, promoting healthy lifestyle choices and developing teamwork, leadership and life skills.

Aboriginal Power Cup

Power Community Youth Program

The Power Community Youth Program was the first educational schools program administered by an AFL club. The program is managed by Russell Ebert and involves repeat visits to primary schools across the state.

Aboriginal Leadership Program

Students in Years 11 and 12 who excel in the Aboriginal Power Cup are invited to participate in a two-day leadership program at Alberton Oval. Participants attend a leadership workshop where they explore both individual and team goals. Our partners, including Santos, UniSA College and Transfield Services spend time with each student to discuss their education, training and career pathways.

Aboriginal Leadership Program

AFL Partnership Program (Ceduna)

Power Community Ltd receives funding from the AFL and FaHCSIA to engage the Aboriginal communities at Ceduna, Koonibba, Yalata and Oak Valley. Power players make regular trips to the region and promote both educational and sporting pathways in these communities. The communities are also invited to Adelaide for AFL games, sporting carnivals and educational workshops.

I reckon we are geared to helping the playing dreams of those kids who may require extra assistance, guidance and mentoring.

I am pretty sure we are capable of helping this kid just as much as anyone if he is prepared accept it.

Garlett would have a heap of West Australians with him on the bombers list among our indigenous players like Patty Ryder, Lovett-Murray, Davey, Jetta, Dempsey. I think that if he can not turn things around at Essendon with the support he will have there then he is going to struggle anywhere really. I think sydney would be the only ones that would be possibly better at handling players like garlett but they also make it well known that they have a no dick head policy.

If he isn't he'd be one of the most talented blokes running around in the VFL.
He would absolutely destroy at VFL level
Elite endurance (top three at Carlton)
Gnerally well skilled and multi skilled at that, can run, kick mark, unfortunately he's a jack of all trades but a master of none so he's just an adequate player at AFL level but VFL! Wow get ready if he doesnt get picked up

Byron Pickett as a mentor to young players??? The same Byron Pickett who once texted his coach that he wasn't going to turn up to the game because he was too hungover?

At least he was decent enough to call in sick and be honest about it.
