After looking at many threads and phantoms there doesn't seem to be a consensus of what clubs need. This isn't an I want that player thread simply stating positional needs. So I'll begin. This year for swans we need:

1. KPF: With Goodes up forward for probably 2-3 years at best Sydney need to get a FF to help out S. Reid. This should be our main priority.
2. KPD: Interestingly our back line seems well stocked currently but Richards and Grundy aren't getting younger and big men take time. Better to take one now to be ready when Ted retires
3. Ruck: Project ruckman here ready in 3-5 years would be ideal as by that stage Mumford would (should) be our only ruckman on the list.
4. Next best available. Purely looking at those that are value/ next best in draft.

IMO for the Crows our first need is a key backman, preferably someone who has height and can duel with stay at home full forwards, as Ben Rutten is not getting any younger and like membling has said big men take time.

Our only key backs really are talia and rutten and with an injury to one of them we would be in serious trouble if facing an opposition with 2 capable power forwards such as hawthorn or collingwood.... although shaun mckernan could play as a key backman if need be and with some game time as a backman i believe he could replace rutten, another servicable key backman is required

We are well stocked for youngsters around the ground and i cannot think of any other key deficiencies where a retiree will leave a gaping hole.

1. Outside mid with pace a good skills
2. A creative, rebounding defender
3. A proper mature aged ruckman as depth for Jacobs

So currently looks like silky midfielders for dons, dogs and crows. Possibly an inside mid for dons? Possibly a bona fide insider tohelp Watson?

yep, with our first going to Daniher, our draft will be very similar to last year.
Basically best available midfielders at our 2nd pick onwards.
Hopefully someone slides ala kav last year, But i'd be very happy with someone like jesse lonergan at pick 2, and then a mature ager like Kyle Martin, Jobe needs help! somebody give the man a chop out

1. With Corey and Chapman ageing and Kelly also close to 30, definitely some more clearance midfielders, hence why we've been pursuing Boak. Even if we get him still think we'll take one more at least in the draft.
2. Tall defender to develop for when Lonergan retires.
3. Another ruckman maybe but doubt we would do this before the rookie draft.

Although we have several rookies performing well and at least one or two will be elevated so unless we have a lot of retirements we may only take 2 or 3 ND picks anyway.

What he/she said - we have a lot of retirements to plan for, as well as a sizeable list gap for a young lockdown defender. We're probably in the nice position, however, whereas we can afford to go for Best Available at the moment.

Project and/or back-up KPD.
Project or back- up ruck (back-up can wait a year).

But for our first/second round picks, need best available midfielders.

Don't need more HBFs, don't need tall forwards.

1. Another KPF, hopefully a mature aged player such as Tom Lee who can provide depth as beside Paine there isn't much else.

2. A rebounding medium defender to cover Ben Johnson when he retires.

3. Best available, not many problems with our list as it is..

I don't think the quality differential between late first round midfielders and second round midfielders will be huge.

1st round. Development KPD. Howson or Rodda please.

2nd round. Midfielder. A serious clearence midfielder or someone with above average finishing skills and pace. Preferably they could do both but im realistic about whats available. Kent, Lowrie, H.Marsh?

3rd round. Speedy smaller midfielder/ forward. Taylor, Deluca, Warrell, Antonio?

The things I'm gonna say have already been said however we do need some good backup for Ivan in the ruck since the others are still quite young/not showing much.

I would lean towards drafting a midfielder/tall, tall/midfielder and small defender with our first three picks. I'd like to get an understudy for Jamison with our first or second pick. A position and need that is arguably more important than finding a KPF. We need to find a small defender as good as Nick Smith.

1. Larger Inside Mid - We could really do with a 185cm+ contested and clearance ball winner.
2. Project KPD/KPF - Preferably KPD
3. Project ruckman (drafts pretty weak on ruckman though so maybe an outside mid)

Not sure we will have a high enough pick to get the midfielder type i really want so would be content with going KPP with our first and settling for lowrie with our second (hopefully there).

Need another mid; a small forward; and at least one fast, hardworking, decent sized flanker; and some sort of depth in the tall slots.
Oh, and the best kid in the draft, if it pleases your honour.

Everyone knows the Saints need at least one other ruckman and a tall powerful defender. After that, someone to develop as a big forward, and a couple of speedie mids who can kick.
