It's not just that he's playing well like we knew he could once he was back in the team, he's actually improved out of sight. Has ironed out his deficiencies and I see no reason for him to go anywhere for the next 3 years at least.

Interesting to hear Foley on the Footy show this morning saying that Tuck went back to school the last couple of years to learn how to play the way that Hardwick wanted him to play. Said as a result Tuck is a more rounded player now. Not only is he capable of going and getting the footy, but he is now able to restrict an opponents influence on games.

He perfectly compliments the Rolls Royces we have in the middle. I'm happy for the bloke, very unassuming, gets on with it and is now taking names and kicking arses.

I wish Tuck was just a couple years younger. Will be a very big loss out of our side (hopefully not for at least 2 years though).

Always loved Tuck. His defensive game has improved out of sight. While I wanted Tuck in the team last year, clearly Hardwick made the right decision.

I think Maloney 2011 played a lot like Tuck, great if the ball was close but pretty much walked in between contests. Like Tuck did, Maloney is struggling to change his style and become more accountable. Saw him walking during the fourth, he's a long way off being able to play like a midfielder needs to currently.

This would be an OK post if the Topic was "What Brett Moloney Does" but it isn't . It's called "What Shane Tuck Does" so comments should specifically deal with how Shane Tuck has proved everyone wrong and continues to show everyone what a great player he is.

People are still trying to justify the exclusion/non-selection of Shane Tuck in 2011 when he was arguably your best player.

This idea that dropping Tuck has turned him into the great player he is now is ridiculous. Shane Tuck is playing the same way now as he always plays, hunting the ball and pumping it forward.

It is no surprise that Jack Reiwoldt's return to form corresponds with Shane Tuck's best game. If people can remember the day Jack Reiwoldt kicked 10 against the Eagles, Shane Tuck had an involvement in just about every forward move. Tuck didn't play at the beginning of 2011 and that corresponded with Reiwoldt's loss of form/confidence.

Richmond's treatment of Tuck has been disgraceful as was Richmond's treatment of Joel Bowden. It is no surprise to me that Tuck is proving his detractors wrong.

Those people (inc. Richmond BigFooty Moderators) who were unanimous in their dismissive attitude towards Tuck should be eating huge servings of humble pie.

Correlation doesn't equal causation. And I think you'll find Tuck was back in the team when Riewoldt went downhill in 2011 (which was later in the year, he started off quite well actually with a bag of 6 against the Blues).

The coach said it and even the other players have said it. Ths good thing is Tuck has been able to fix the flaws in his game and is now a better player for it. In fact when watching him play now you can see when he does do something that he used to, he often punches his hand as if to acknowledge that he has done the wrong thing. Case in point was his little chip kick to Vickery in the second quarter which was knocked away. Deledio told him he should have gone long and Tuck put his hand up to acknowledge he had made the wrong choice.

It was also interesting on Before the game, Deledio mentioned tuck was playing well. Tuck has the same flaws as he always has had..... the difference is that Dimma now realises that his positives out way his flaws by the length of the flemington straight.....

How is it a mistake, when those guys are no longer here, while Tuck is back playing better than he ever has?

Ever stopped and thought that Hardwick knew exactly what he had in Tuck and rather than cut him was prepared to do the hard work to get him to be a better player. If that meant leaving Tuck at Coburg until he mastered what it was that Hardwick wanted then that was the sort of short term pain for long term gain that was needed.

I reckon the same thing is happening with guys like Graham & Browne this year. Maric has come in and taken the number 1 spot, however rather than getting rid of these 2 we extended their contracts and are leaving them at Coburg where they play full games in the roles Hardwick wants them to play and allows them to develop their games. Who knows maybe in 1-2 years time we'll be saying the same things about them.
