What should Callum Sinclair receive for his massive FLOP?

Yep, if they're really serious about stamping out staging, they need to take action against Rance's effort near the end of the third quarter. Sure there was some body contact on his side but nothing to cause the sideways dive that he then took - and that one duped the umpire.

Surely in their reviews of games, the umpires must realise there are certain players who repeatedly dupe them and learn to approach future contests with a little more scepticism. That should be the most telling punishment for players who dive - they don't always get their fair go when they are genuinely pushed in a contest.
Said the same thing about Sinclair, don't think we should suspend them for it at this stage, but slap them with a 5k fine for first offence, 10k for the second, 15k for the third, etc.

Don't see we'd see a player do it more than once in that instance.

I don't think you can punish players for exaggerating contact it's far too subjective. Fines/suspensions should only be reserved for staging when no contact has been made.

No I think Rance and Sinclair should both be fined. Pretty obvious they made it look much worse than it was. Suspension if there's no contact.

What the **** was he trying to draw a 50 for? He was 15m out from goal and nearly directly in front. Just go back and kick it instead of staging.

Sinclair is a very dodgy kick for goal.

Anything outside the square is no certainty.

I've seen him miss from the top of the square

Rance was pushed in the momentum of the contest.

No case to answer and rightly so

Rubbish. No-one looking at the contest could conclude that Rance's reaction to the contact was reasonable in the circumstances. And unlike the pathetic "dives" by Sinclair and Sicily, he actually got rewarded for it.

Plenty of players accentuate contact in a contest and it's sometimes impossible to determine how unreasonable the response is. But they have to start somewhere and fining Rance for such a blatant one would be a start. He can always go to the tribunal to argue his case if he wishes.

I am not expecting him to be fined. I think it will be all "too hard" for Christian to make the call on. But he should be (and as I said, have it adjudicated by the tribunal if he disagrees).

Best thing is ridicule. Hold an annual award, get in judges from Melb Theatre Co, NIDA to grade each flop on degree of difficulty, dramatic quality, best backstory, etc, announce an annual winner. That will get rid of it.

What else has he done? Upset an old Carlton supporter?

Aside from certain WCE fans, the only thing growing for Oliver is universal acclaim for being an elite midfielder in his third season after winning a B+F in his second...

Speaks more to how inconsistent the rest of the squad was last year though.

For a team that finished 9th that should probably be the case.

But with your squad playing more consistently this year than last, surely he's up against it to go back to back?
Yeah there's been a more even contribution with all of Gawn, Hogan and Brayshaw being fit (touch wood) after missing so many games last year. I reckon Hogan would be leading, then Gawn, then Oliver, Jetta, O.McDonald

Rance, a continual offender re blatant staging, needs to be rubbed out for 1 to send a very clear message.
Going by this comment I'm guessing you'd have been arguing that Luke Shuey should have been rubbed out for last year's Semi?

Sinclair gets a fine. But let's not pretend it's somehow completely undermining the game. The fine and a laugh at him are a good punishment.

Rance made sure the umpire saw his free kick. No worse than Ben Brown and a lot of other players. Punishment should be that the umpires treat him as the boy who cried wolf. Keep doing it time and time again and you'll miss out on a free kick when it matters.

Sometimes difficult for umpires to pick up on the day so better dealt with by the MRP (is one person a panel?).

First offence $1000 fine
Second offence 1 week
etc

Willie Rioli did a swan dive on the weekend in Perth and got a free for in the back.

not a 50. but rance flopped on buddy in last years game at the g and got the free. soft push which was to the upper chest. no way a guy like rance who is as strong as an ox and never loses his feet in a marking contest goes down like a sack of potatoes. best defender in the game. no need to take dive like that. sinkers effort was just as poor.
50, cant you read?
