I grimly look forward to your reports.
Just back from the great place and it was a very poor game by the Dogs again today. We also got a touched up in the curtain raiser between Werribee and Bendigo/Essendon.
A lot of our youngsters hardly touched the ball however, Wight was good along with Hahn. Boyd was also good along with Eagle
and Cross. Walsh hardly sighted. I think Picken injured himself.
Skipper was serviceable without doing too much although it really wasn't a good day for the taller players. BTW, I doubt that Skipper is his 196cm listed height, more like 193cm.

Back to the main game Big crowd, 7,000 plus, and very windy.
The Dogs started with first use of the wind and never really capitalised on a fairly strong wind favouring the scoreboard end.
Match-ups Hargrave on Hird, Bassett on Lloyd, Guido in the centre, Robbins in defence.
Smith laid a crunching tackle and then kicked to the leading Brown who got our first goal. Grant was doing well across half back.
Bassett was finding Lloyd very difficult although Lloyd was on the receiving end of some decent passes.
We struggled in the first q got thrashed in the second and it was pretty much an exhibition match after that. No real positives out of the game for us.
The Bomber would be happy with Laycoc k's effort and he looked a decent prospect.

Will write a bit more shortly

Not much sign of the accountability and aggression that we have been hearing about. A lot of fumbling and bad passing. Essendon took advantage of every mistake our boys made. Let's hope the Doggies weren't playing flat out today because if that's the best they can do we're in trouble.

hmmm, I dont think Dry Rot went to the footy today, that why he was waiting for the reports.
Cross played OK for Werribee but had little influence on the game

Sounds just like last week. I know they are only praccy games but maybe Werribee are on the way down. They have been around the top in the last few years but don't have anything to show for it. It's hard to stay up there forever.

BTW, what was Barry's coaching like today? I don't rate him that much.

Yes, Bendigo is a little far to go from Sydney for a practice match. :)

Thanks for the reports.

Most of you are much more seasoned campaigners than me, but I don't like what I saw v Cats or what I've read v Dons.

I know these are merely practice matches, but I'm beginning to get a bad feeling about the coming season. It's not a matter of losing, but how we lost playing a virtual full strength Dogs playing list.

Essendon look like being a top 8 side, but not a top 4 side, and the same could be said for the Cats.

It seems that we are simply not competitive.

I couldn't see any problems with his coaching. He spoke well and seemed to be working to a plan. He also seemed to be enjoying it.

Hahn was a very good player in the two's and took some strong marks. Harris did not do a lot as he seemed to be dragged away from the play a bit

Depends on who played for Werribee on Satdee. True they have lost a few senior players but last week at Whitten oval they had a number of the Werribee guys out.
As a Bulldog fan first, I'd rather Werribee develop our young guys first than win VFL premiership with has beens and never weres.

So only girls can wear the number 40 on their jumpers? What happens if a young boy or grown man for that matter wants to wear Birss's number? Can they not? Is it a new rule for our club that if a player is remotely good looking, only a female may wear his number on their jumper? I find these posts sexist and discriminating...
