Yeah, I'm an old bloke, but does anyone else remember what happened to Charlie Pagnoccolo?
After his first year, he was targeted by opposition "hit men", who roughed him up nearly every week.
In one game, he was knocked out by a Carlton player, who would've got 8-10 weeks these days for his shirt front on Charlie.
It got to the point where Charlie lost confidence completely, and by 1973 was very much a fringe player.
At the end of '73, he and two other Dogs fringe players (Gary Baker was one of them) for Greg Parke, a good CHF from Melbourne.
In his prime, that trade would have been Pagnoccolo for Parke and another Melbourne player.
I'm sincerely hoping we don't have the same scenario looming with JJ.
