I agree with this. One on one, we’d be pretty s**t. Doc, Keath and Williams are good 1v1 (purely from an eye test perspective) but the others I wouldn’t always back in to win or halve the contest. This may be true but I was speaking to the point Gary made with the stat he provided on our backline and many in here have said exactly the same thing so I’m not sure why that particular stat was so “incorrect”?
I didn’t hear him speak the dogs down in anyway or be negative he just said that was a weakness. Again I fail to see the issue with that.
I disagree with you if you think our current backline players are good one on one. As previously stated im not backing Gards, Daniel or Dale in to win many pure one on one contests BUT if they continue to play as they have as a team it may not be an issue. Let’s hope it isn’t
Pretty clear Bev knows this hence why we play such an aggressive zone and ‘help’ defence. That’s just good coaching imo. He’s minimising the biggest weakness on our list.
To be fair, the game is rarely played one out bear in the square type stuff anymore so the stat was somewhat irrelevant.
No argument with Lyon about identifying it though. He’s spot on.
