WESTERN BULLDOGS
Champion Data overall list rating:2nd
List rating for 2019: 15th
Player breakdown
- Elite: 4
- Above average: 9
- Average: 10
- Below average: 6
- Poor: 1
We say: The absolute bolter in this list, but given the Bulldogs’ meteoric rise in the second half of the year it’s not a total shock. Luke Beveridge has assembled a team that looks destined for success in 2020, with Champion Data estimating that only Richmond’s list is better.
Only 30 players rated so doubt it includes Gardner. We had 30 players play 5 or more games last year so I'd reckon that's the criteria.Article is now on Fox. https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/ch...s/news-story/b073f65355f1f135629a299067c0a76b
Wondering if Gardner is our poor?
Perhaps more likely English is rated statistically poor at this point of his career.Article is now on Fox. https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/ch...s/news-story/b073f65355f1f135629a299067c0a76b

Depending on the criteria they use to rate players - any of Hayes, Smith, either Young, Schache or even Cordy or Richards wouldn't surprise me.Only 30 players rated so doubt it includes Gardner. We had 30 players play 5 or more games last year so I'd reckon that's the criteria.
What a classic that was. Johnno was great in that last quarter. Lazy 5 for the gameDogs v Adelaide, round 1 2008. Johnno’s 300th, Westy equalling games record.
On Fox now.
heading looked interesting, someone post the text?Article on Tom Boyd in today’s Herald Sun

He was very raw in the first half of last year so that makes sense.I hope you are correct! how good are we going if he is our "poor" .
Tom Boyd: How depth of despair helped me find purposeCan anyone please post the Tom Boyd article?
Was being in a young team, surrounded by young minds at the GWS, a better or worse environment than other clubs?
I’m not sure, but we were stockpiled with of all of these young, highly-talented draft picks in a supremely competitive environment. I’m sure all clubs are ultra-competitive, but at GWS no one was ever really safe in the team, but no one was too far away either, so there was a broad mood of uncertainty and apprehension
I just find it hard to read an opinion piece from McCartney.
Another interesting facet is how people respond to lofty expectation (both internal and external) and the stress that can arise from it. He is not the first perfectionist to struggle to come to grips with unrealistic expectations. Fear of failure can be a curse. Some react in different ways, e.g. by setting themselves lower expectations (and usually meeting them). Hard to know if one is better than the other as both are suboptimal but at least the latter path can leave them with a sense of equanimity rather than the anxiety and depression that Boyd suffered.
Are you including Kyrgios here? There must be heaps of people who don't make the most of their ablities which usually doesn't bother me but this guy is an exceptionI think the latter is healthier. For some reason (many) humans have this belief that our goal in life has to be to be as productive as possible, to reach our productive potential. "I can't stand sportsperson X as they have the potential to be number 1 in the world but they dont give 110%" Well maybe they are just more balanced than that and realise the goal in life is actually to be happy (whilst trying not to impinge on other's happiness). Maybe they are happy being top 100 in the world and a millionaire, without having to ride themselves into the ground to be even better.
"What do you want to be when you grow up?"..."Happy". Is a convo more young people should have.
All just in my opinion of course
