What They're Saying - The Bulldogs Media Thread - Part 3

I noticed that the Bulldog Tragician hasn't done a post-GF blog post/article. I hope she's doing okay.
Would be masochistic to relive it and write about it. She's like the rest of us, practising avoidance. It will be the day never to be spoken of.

I wonder if other clubs' fans have felt the same after losing a GF. I've never thought of it from their angle before.

Classic beat up for the rematch - it's better than there being no feeling between the teams - just enjoy it
Agreed. It is like the GWS rivalry - no doubt there is some feeling there, but the media will beat it up for all it is worth.
It really only stands to benefit both clubs in terms of exposure.
If we could both perform consistently over the coming years and build this into something like the recent Hawks Cats rivalry that would be fantastic.

Might be worth cooling our respective jets on this Campbell Brown podcast special a month after the supposed event. If it had actually happened, a real media personality would have run with it.

Real media personality Campbell Brown is not, however he’s somewhat of an expert on nightclub fights. Just ask Steven May.

But I agree with you. I feel like this is something juicy that would’ve been broken by someone other than Ricky Nixon’s lapdog

For some, maybe. For others it's cathartic and part of the healing process. She has written articles about all of our other very dark days so I'd assumed she would have written another about this one.
Give her time. Give us all time 😢. Maybe next year.

Can anyone remember a more classless premiership team? I can’t, and I’ve been around a while. I’m with Tom Boyd on this one. Can’t stand Melbourne, and I’d have been barracking against them regardless of whether the Dogs made the GF or not. There are individuals that I like, such as Petracca, but collectively…nah.

Petracca is an arrogant C U Next Tuesday.

And “Gysberts2Bates” - how about you **** off from liking posts on this forum and go do something useful, like

a) Sending Hawthorn some flowers for saving your pathetic club from merging back in the 90’s

b) Sending the AFL some flowers for gifting you a CEO (Jackson) and a coach (Roos) because you were so pathetic

c) Sending the AFL another bunch of flowers for gifting you a not guilty verdict for tanking that would have made OJ Simpson squirm.

Article in the hun about how we nearly went Knuckles with the demons at a Perth nightclub Monday after gf.

They turned up after us, paid cash to open the 3rd floor (we already had the 2nd), then started playing that 'freed from desire' song up loud and taunting our players from the balcony.

Was calmed down by a player from each team who still live together (not sure who they were but prob easy to find out with that description).

Gonna be a few spicy years ahead between our 2 teams I think, and that's before this incident.

What it tells me is they don‘t know how to handle success, no class no dignity and no leadership.

I looked it up - 4 individual winners of various Australian Football Media Awards categories this season didn't make their top 50 list lol

Some people on here putting a lot of faith in Campbell Brown having the story straight. Me, I am far from convinced.

Does this nong realise he’s proving our point? 😏

Apparently Matty Spangher to be our forward line coach.

Where did you hear that?

Only job he has held in AFL since retiring is at Collingwood for a year as an engagement manager, no coaching experience.

Melbourne and Western Bulldogs players almost came to blows in a Perth nightclub two days after the AFL grand final, according to premiership Hawk Campbell Brown.

Speaking on the Herald Sun’s Browny’s Podcast, Brown said it was his understanding that the Bulldogs were not happy at the Demons players singing and dancing to ‘Freed from Desire’ on the Perth Stadium turf hours after their grand final win.

This was seen as them poking fun at the Dogs, after a video leaked of Bulldogs players dancing to the same song in the rooms following their preliminary final victory over Port Adelaide.

Brown said he’d been told tensions reached boiling point after the two teams arrived at the same nightspot a few days later.

“On the Monday or Tuesday night, the Doggies players had gone to this nightclub and the ground floor was general admission, they (the Dogs) had booked level two and level three was not open because it was a Monday night,” Brown said on the podcast.

“So, the Melbourne boys had had a few and they were feeling OK … so the boys gathered the troops and went to this club and they got there.

“Management say: ‘Boys, it’s great to have you here and we’ll accommodate you but the Dogs have got level two so you’re going to have to meander here with the general admission.’

“So one of the boys took some initiative and took some cash out, $10,000, and said to management: ‘Mate, here’s 10K, you open the top level.’”

Brown said that was when it got heated, after ‘Freed from desire’ started to play on the Demons’ level.

“Security escorts them straight up, so now they’re on level three, the Doggies are on level two and remember, they hate each other and they’re hanging over the rails and giving it to the Doggies boys,” Brown said.

“It’s getting real heated, real personal and then they play that song again above them, and it gets to the point where players want to come to blows.

“They’re talking about it, (saying things like) ‘You come down, we’ll come up, we’re going to fight you, we’ll meet you halfway.’

“It would have been unbelievable and imagine that, the two teams that played the grand final on the Saturday punching on at a club on the Monday.

“It didn’t come to blows because a player from Melbourne and a player from the Western Bulldogs, who are best mates and used to live together and may still do, they met halfway between level two and three on safe ground, and negotiated a peace treaty that saved these two clubs coming to blows.

“That’s my mail on the ground in Perth and it’s factually correct.”

The alleged incident should add plenty of spice the next time the two clubs meet, which could come as soon as in Round 1 at the MCG next year following a request from the Demons.

Will will be interesting to see who will the face of the dogs 2022 season and membership drive. Will it be the captain who just seems Mr Perfect in everyway on field and off field or they go with Bailey with his good looks, mullett and Hollywood profile likely to sell more memberships especially with potential young new members.
