I was there when he stepped around Mitchell and kicked the goal. I was laughing and going crazy. People were looking at me, I didn't care. Then I made eye contact with another Doggies supporter and he was also laughing his butt off. We pointed at each other and just kept laughing. Over and over I kept saying to myself "He's ours! He's ours!"

there is no other team
Of course, AFL 360 had to show the 97 prelim. OF COURSE!
Man, that still hurts and makes me feel sick in the guts.

We had boundary seats right on the wing for that game and I was in perfect line with Libbas kick for goal.
I will swear to my death that the ball never went outside of the goals.

I would love to say that with video review that decision would've never stood, but with the way it's going they would've called it out on the full.

I have a Melbourne supporting mate that was at that game and directly behind the path of the ball. Swears it was a goal.

Did anyone read the article re: Wallace and his regrets from the 97 prelim this week? He said at 3/4 time he spoke passionately about what a win would mean for the club, for the fans etc. WTF!?!? He should have spoken about what needed to be done - game plan, defence, etc. Save the heartfelt speech for post-game! That pissed me off big time.

So many scars ....

To be fair a speech like that could go either way (which is a risk). If we had have made the GF and I have no doubt we would have won that year, that speech would be seen as genius. Hindsight can be the birth of a lot of regret.

Everyone at the ground knew it was a goal - not sure what the goal umpires were on that day. Still brings back terrible memories
Everyone get over it they where a better side on the day and went on to win the flag The fact that we kicked 6 points in quarter didnt help

Horrible day in '97 but I think the folklore of the Libba incident has lost touch with reality. At the stage we were still 23 points up with 20 minutes left. It's funny how our brains work, alot of us would swear Libba kicked that ball in the dying seconds and that single decision cost us the game and the flag.

On a side note I recall (pre big-footy) seeing the '97 footage, there was top vision just before the incident at the throw-in from a camera on a helicopter or blimp. The angle shown would be a perfect angle to see the ball go through. Obviously panned back to ground cameras when the ball - in occurred. The question I always had is was the vision from the aerial camera ever released?

one thing i have always overlooked until now is that they kicked 21 behinds.....so we weren't exactly world-beaters that day
