100,000 (and soon to be close to 150,000) MCC members pay many times over for the 23,000 reserve and keep the stadium running and first class for the rest of the place.

This is the point people dont get. The Membership at the MCC is massive compared to even the biggest of clubs....and we dont have the luxury of opting in and out every year on a whim or according to our personal situations or depending upon how our team is going. Its a 20+ year wait (and another 10 for full membership to get into the GF) but once you quit you stay quit until they put you in a box.

MCC Members have paid their dues....literally and figuratively speaking.

Lined up at 6am. Got prime seats on the 3rd level centre wing. Beautiful. Hope now, having a nap, shower and will head back in at midday.

People who sleep out are a bit silly, but it's fun as well. Did it for the cricket, would likely do it for a Dees grand final if I didn't get in the ballot.

A large majority of the fans lining up this morning were Hawks fans, with many in official Hawthorn membership gear. A decent smattering of Eagles fans as well. Very silly to presume all of the MCC is filled with neutrals today when it isn't.

This thread is an old thread about MCC Members on Grand Final day.

Do you have a MCC membership ticket or is it general admission in the outer?

If its a MCC Members ticket, you cant get in unless you are a member or you have a guest pass.

If its general admission then I have no idea what "restricted" ticket is.

Best to call, tweet or email the MCC, but I believe the gates open at 12.

Without balcony passes for both, you won't be able to access the 2nd or 3rd level seats so your options are going to be ground level or the 4th level. Personally I don't have a problem with either of them, although you want to be towards the front of the 4th level otherwise it's just too high. Ground level is better for more atmosphere obviously.

Usually for big games they will hand out seat cards once you've chosen your seat if you're on the bottom 3 levels and that way the seat is yours for the day and you can come and go as you like. Otherwise for the top level it's just find a seat and you can unofficially save it with a scarf or jacket if you want.

People will be lining up from early in the day (many come direct from the dawn service) but if you get there before gates have opened despite the line looking large you'll often get a reasonable seat on the ground level as a lot of people in the line will want the 2nd or 3rd level. It's up to you to figure out the variables but with a young daughter you don't want to be in line too long. Maybe 11-11:30 would have you waiting for 30-60 minutes in line for the gates to open and the line to move but then give you a decent chance of getting a couple of nice ground level seats probably on the half forward flank. You could get in, get given the seat cards for the day and then go get lunch and check out the end of the ANZAC day parade or something similar in the city.

Judging by the lines for the prelim which were smaller than average I would expect it to be pretty similar for the grand final as Adelaide have very few mcc members. I wouldn't be surprised if they let some restricted members in this year.
