what are you hoping and expecting to see from this summer of cricket?

FTR i think we play south africa in three tests, sri lanka in three tests [boxing day included] and then SL and the windies in some separate ODIs.

personally i am a bit disappointed the tri-series has gone.. that was the most exciting odi series i have seen for some time last summer.

i would love the aussies to settle their bowling line up and stick with it not chop and change and rotate all the time!! mcgrath,, gillespie, lee and co rarely rested.

i really hope cowan can cement his place at the top of the order. still can't warm to warner, not sure why... and obviously hope punter can have a golden summer but it looks like a big ask. ditto hussey.

what do you expect against the saffies and lankans?? don't think sth africa have played at the gabba in yonks, not that it really matters. hopefully there's no rain around and we get a quality summer!! we're due for one.

We had a good summer last year, in terms of success... albeit against fairly insipid competition. Hopefully the series against the Saffers is hotly contested. Should mean a few people are required to step up and make a name for themselves.

No tri-series? Lame.

I feel South Africa could bury us in the test. Could be embarrassing. Sri Lanka not much chop in tests but at least we'll get to see Sanga and Jayawardena (maybe last time?).
In terms of the ODI's you get two good limited overs squads. The Windies have weapons these days. I expect Gayle, Pollard and Narine to be a drawcard for the public. Sri Lanka have their fans we all know that. So all in all it's quite positive.

In my case, "still can't warm" is perhaps not the issue. I have doubts about whether the way he plays can be regularly successful against good attacks. Hopefully he will score runs against South Africa and put those doubts to rest, but I still see his method as being somewhat hit and miss - something that is not ideal at the top of a brittle line-up.

I think we're at the stage where it isn't all that important which quicks we go with, Patto, Siddle and Hilf is our best attack but I back Harris (I'm aware he's injured) and Starc to do the job. Cummins I'm not as confident about but has as much talent as any of them. Johnson does not fit into this, I will be livid if he gets tests. So I expect our bowlers to do well all summer in tests.

I'm very nervous about our batting, we will rely heavily on Clarke in the next 18 months. The area that could elevate us is Watson, it wouldn't surprise me if he finally managed start to converting his fifties ( it won't surprise me if he doesn't convert either. Warner will be Warner, some brilliant innings, some single digit innings.

The ODIs won't be as good without the tri series, but they should be good contests. Sri Lanka and WI are both quality limited over sides.

Cutting to Make his Test Debut and bat six and have a mad slog :D and score 100 Hopefully
Nahh I think Wade/Paine/Haddin or even Hartley will each have a test to there name or ODI,
Warner to be Replace by Hughes
The Cummins Starc and Pattinson gets its first ever chance to shine In all in the same match and defeat Sri Lanka
2 Players Will make Debut due to a injury or rest NCN,Jackson Bird or Peter Forrest
Ponting Calls time on His Career won't Play in Ashes
Ed Cowan Scores his First Ton
Watson Wins another AB Medal
Hughes Scores a double ton to stun the Haters
and...thats about it and I know alot of people won't like the Warner Call but I just think he will not have the best summer because I believe he is just confused on what the right way to go about it is.

Fast bowling should be fun to watch.

Batting could be troublesome, but if Watson, Warner and Clarke fire we should be very competitive. Khawaja, Cowan and Marsh (if they play) could be shaky.

Not super confident in Lyon this time around, wait and see I guess.

Both one-day series should be competitive and entertaining.

We possess a young bowling attack nowadays, with a lot greater depth than in the days of McGrath/Lee etc. The chopping and changing that you've been seeing seems fairly justified but without it some blokes will inevitably miss out. Now the team basically rotates between:

Pattinson
Hilfenhaus
Siddle
Cummins
Starc
Harris
Watson
Johnson (hurts me to say it)

I think rotating the attack is a necessary evil right now. The best bowlers are either young like Cummins and need managing, or they are injury prone like Harris and need managing.

- The usual journalist driven pull for more 20 over crap to replace the 50 over games,
- fans whining about the heavy handed nature of the Gabba security,
- more talk than usual about the TV rights
- at least 3 clear dismissals overturned because the umpires wanted to check the no-ball.
- Channel 9 commentators having multiple orgasms over a regulation Chris Gayle 6 in every white ball contest
- Bill Lawry NOT to appear until Boxing Day
- Interesting discussions about the days of the Perth Test starting at 9AM WST rather than 10AM or 11AM as it normally is
- The back pages to be filled with Tennis by the time mid-January comes
- Tony Greig flogging memorabilia as only he can

It's nice to see us have a little depth in our bowling stocks, well, our fast bowling stocks. However, I'm highly worried about our batting lineup. Clark will be fine, Watson really needs to start converting, I'm skeptical of Warner long-term against quality bowling, there's a ton of pressure on Ponting and Hussey and I don't rate Wade as a test batter extremely highly at the moment.

Eh. Of course, if these guys all have solid series, we're in a good position to have an excellent summer.
