I may have said this before but I like Caroline Wilson as a football journalist. She calls it as it is. She is not part of the 'boys club' and doesn't care if she upsets the likes of Eddie
damit I just squashed a bug crawling up the screen... hmmm life gets like that... o_O

Statistically this year Cripps was better
Reasonably even in that regard really:

Contested Possessions Per Game
Kennedy - 17.09 (#1 in the league)
Cripps - 16.86 (#2 in the league)

Clearances Per Game
Kennedy - 7.83 (#2 in the league)
Cripps - 8.81 (#1 in the league)

I don't know why but I get really irritated by those little kids giving out the premiership medals. I hate those dorky caps too
Along similar lines I hate the way players bring their kids with them when they run through the banner for a milestone game, especially if it's a baby.

I can't stand the constant references to seemingly all footballers and coaches by their nickname or some stupid variation of their given or first name, especially by people who don't even know these people.

"Jakey", "Lukey", "Bevo", "Clarko", "Horse" etc. It sounds ridiculous.

Before the finals Kennedy averaged 16.76
Cripps 16.86

Before finals clearances Kennedy 7.76
Cripps 8.09

Including finals Kennedy has 180 total. (163 reg. season)
Cripps has 185. In 2 less games he still has 5 more than Kennedy.

Through the season Cripps was the best.

"Poppy" = end of story.

Just f*** up and call them by their name.

The only thing people despise about Melbourne is their willingness to get around rules in and around the ruck. There are multiple more hated teams.

The tough penalty they copped was to be stripped of two premierships they won when it was revealed that they had won them while cheating. Sorry to burst your bubble but the Bulldogs, had they won anything, would have suffered the same penalty. They had an entire season's worth of points stripped when they were almost certain to win the title. The only differences were that a) the dogs hadn't won anything and b) they got caught while cheating not after the fact. No idea what their justification was with the eels, but the dogs are a club with a huge, huge supporter base and they had no trouble cutting their points.

Do you really think that Sydney wouldn't have stayed competitive without Buddy or Tippet? They've been doing in since Lockett kicked that point on the 96 prelim. They would and will manage without AFL assistance.

Everything you've said just reeks of the sort of 'you don't belong here' attitude that holds back any sport that seeks to expand itself.
Since 1997 Sydney have finished at the end of the home and away season; 6,3,8,10,7,11,4,6,3,4,7,6,12,5,7,3,4,1,4,1. In the corresponding period the following clubs have won the wooden spoon; Melb,Bris,Coll, Stk, Fre,Car,Dogs,Rich,Carl,Carl,Rich,Melb,Melb,W.Coast/G/Coast,GWS,GWS,Stk,Car,Ess.

Now people may say it is great management. Perhaps. Call me a sceptic, but do we now have to put up with GWS getting the same arm chair ride for the next 20 years? The AFL is Sydney centric.

I agree with you phatboy but as an aside I think dropping the shut the from stfu doesn't make you, or anyone else, sound more cool. It's quite the contrary really.

Don't mean to attack you personally, apologies in advance.

Fair play, but I never started saying it as a means of shortening 'stfu'.

I always just said it instead of saying shut up or f*** off.

No mention of the millions of dollars they are being able to pump into country and junior footy in NSW for the precise reason that the Giants exist?

You want to bang on about what's being done to prop up the game in traditional areas - stop for a minute and think about it. Will the game ever die in those areas? No, of course it wont.

Will it ever thrive in the northern states? Only if it is heavily promoted.

I'm a league fan who follows the only club to contest every season in the history of the NSWRL/NRL.

I have absolutely no dramas seeing the Melbourne Storm helped out because it is the only way the game will thrive on any level in Victoria. I didn't even really hold it against them when they cheated the cap - as a non rugby league area, Melbourne has to pay overs for every single player they get, cost of living or no cost of living. When Sydney afl teams are being made up almost entirely of Victorian players, the same applies - they have to pay overs to keep people away from their home areas.

Get over it mate. See the game grow and deal with a few inconveniences that might seem unfair, or see the game go back to being existent in 3 states and having none of the national presence it currently has.

You seem to be arguing that cheating is a necessary component of growing the game. Strange.

I've said nothing of the sort. What I do think is that it is slightly more understandable when a team is in the sort of handicapped position that the storm have been in.

It's up to clubs to ensure they have the environment and appropriate management to keep their players. Contracts ensure they are compensated for the loss of any player leaving, and they have every opportunity to trade a player in who's in the same circumstance.
