Lets see.
1. Need to change the name of the Brownlow medal to something more in tune with a national game.
2. Need to rotate the "Brownlow" around Australia rather than just having it at Crown.
3. Should allow a small zone selection for each teams first pick in the draft. So WA,clubs get the first pick from WA talent, same goes with SA and Vic etc.

Not agreeing or disagreeing, but I'm curious... Why?
Simply because WA and SA teams never get first shot at drafting the best local talent. So to keep some local interest the first two picks in WA goes to WC and Freo, the first two picks in SA to Adelaide and the fiflth down the road, and same with Vic.

You would create monster teams in WA alone, not sure about SA teams....

O'meara, Conigilo, Swallow, Bennell, Conca, Darling, Jetta, NicNat, Fyfe, Black, Yarran, Rich, Hill, Ballantyne, Masten, Leuenberger, Josh Kennedy, Mitch Clark, Lance Franklin, van berlo, Le Cras, Daniel Wells....im sure there are heaps im forgetting

That's not even including Cousins, Kerr, Cox, Sandilands etc

Maybe we should all finish bottom 4. That will show that mean AFL and its draft rules!

1. Uh, why? The equivilant would be calling it the Oakley Medal.

2. That'd be fine if it wasn't the Monday of GF week, it's a logistical issue. I personally don't care where it's held, but does it even make a difference?

The SA clubs would be pretty strong as well considering SA won the national 18s and 16s last year.
Grundy, Wingard, Polec, Redden, Mayes, Dunstan, Smith, Polec, Schutz, Aish, Giles, Jacobs, Day etc etc.
It sure would makes teams more likely to put back into their jrs.

Why does the highest indivdual award get named after a Geelong administrator?

You talk about a logistical issue, but in sure it could be managed. Interstate teams go to the GF parade when im sure they might not want to. And if two WA clubs both get to the GF wouldnt it be more fitting having the parade in Perth for WA fans?

That grossly advantages SA and WA clubs, while disadvantaging Vic clubs, and grossly disadvantaging Queensland/NSW clubs.

Have never really understood the bullocking that Robin Nahas gets on here. In my opinion he's always been a pretty serviceable small forward who made a quick transition to AFL level after being picked up as a mature age rookie from the VFL. He'll be pretty useful for North.
Much better player than Jake King.

That would just give the WA teams access to a top 5 pick every single year. It would benefit SA an WA far too much.

Because 100 years ago he was president of the VFL and to change the name of a 90 year old award doesn't do anything except lower it's prestige and brand value. It's kinda like changing the name of Princes Park to Optus Oval or whatever it is now, people would still call it the Brownlow because there's a point at which changing a name doesn't register.

If two same state teams made the GF I'm 100% certain they'd change the location of the parade, as they should. The Brownlow isn't attended by 100,000 members of the general public though, it's a TV event if anything, so the location seems irrelevant.

Agree. It's absolutely a TV event, and the location is completely irrelevant. They could have it in London for all it matters.

AFL grew from the VFL. The name no longer holds meaning just for Chas Brownlow but for the tradition of the award. Changing it would be stupid. You don't win a Brownlow and be congratulated on winning the award named after feats of an administrator. You win the award and get enshrined among some of the greats of the game. The modern Olympics have very little to do with the greek town of Olympia but you wouldn't want them changed to be called the 4 yearly international sporting event would you?

As for moving the Brownlow it doesn't make much sense either. The footy media, the largest viewing audience, the largest attending audience both in players, officials and fans are all based in Melbourne. Why have the majority travelling. They don't move the Oscars around the US. The draft has already been moved in order to drum up a bit of cheap publicity in the expansion states, but to me it seems a pretty expensive waste.
