Cypriot Turks would normally be Moslems and his name suggests it. What's the story there?
Whats the difference with what his religion is?

I knew him and his family when he was growing up and generally Cypriot Turks, although they say they are Muslim they are not fanatical or strict about it, they don't even pray, except during a festival, like say equivalent to Xmas Mass (Catholics). Cypriot women (not all, but majority), don't wear a head scarf.

I'm just curious about players with unusual backgrounds for AFL. So the suggestion in Scooter's post that he might have some other religious background had me doubly curious.

That's pretty much what I would have expected. Thanks for indulging my curiosity.

Interesting cause of a few articles going around declaring Bachar Houli the 1st muslim footy player.
That seems very unlikely to me unless they mean 'religious Moslem' or 'devout Moslem' or something like that. Several people come to mind whose names and backgrounds suggest a Moslem background. John Ibrahim who played for North had an Albanian background and has a Moslem surname. There have been a couple of others since.

Windsock,

I notice that every time you write "Muslim" you spell it "Moslem". How come? Is it an insight into your heritage?
