What does everyone think were the worst injuried of 2001?

Here are some of my thoughts

Round 3 - Geelong V Melbourne (J.SNELL)
Round 12 - St.Kilda V Fremantle (R.Harvey)
Round 9 - Essendon V Hawthorn (S.Crawford)
Round 20 - Essendon V Collingwood ( ? )

Can anyone remember the player who was injured?

Round 22 - Carlton V Geelong (B.Ratten)
Round 22 - Carlton V Geelong (S.Silvani)
Round 22 - Carlton V Geelong (D.Hume)

There are more, but I will let all you name them!

Nick Holland, Round 14 Vs Richmond, does his shoulder again.

John Barker, Preliminary Final Vs Essendon, off in first quarter.

The Jason Snell incident was one of the most gruesome injuries i've ever seen. I was at the game and i remember seeing his ankle just flopping around. The bone came through the skin, god it must've been painful.

Brendon Lade Rd 3 of the Ansett Cup

Very sadly breaks the same leg again after playing a ripper of a match and misses the entire season for the second year in a row!!

argghh.. man... terrible post!!

just reminded me of some mpeg/avi someone sent to me in email....

1. kickboxer kicks another in the shins, and his shin basically wraps around the shin of the opponent.. snapped in half... he crumbles to the floor of the ring, as his right leg collapses...

2. a youngish teen on a skateboard... goes down some railing on the stairs... the board falls, he leaps into the air, and lands awkwardly... his right knee has snapped forward instead of back... his feet are at his face.. and no, he's not doing the splits...

3. a tennis player.. lunging at the net to retrive a drop shot... playing on some indoor grippy surface.. left ankle does a complete roll, so that the left sole of the foot is facing right...

mannn.... tho, if anyone wants to see these, i can email them to ya... :P

Easy: Lade in the ansett cup, two broken legs, two seasons in a row.
Most unlucky Paxman (Knee) round 22 v West Coast, port win by 100+ points, Paxman misses what would only be his 2nd (& 3rd) final in over 200 games.

Jason Snell's was shocking. It was disgusting to see, I can't imagine the pain he would have been in.

And from what I heard, he was still on crutches at round 21. Yuck.

An honourable mention must go to ...

... Luke Toia and his sickening fall ending in a broken neck - the footage of that still makes me wince!

Undoubtedly Kouta doing his knee in our final game for the year. May have cost us any chance we had of going further in the finals and has kissed his 2002 season goodbye. On top of last years injury which saw him miss the finals, the tragedy factor is huge at Optus.

Brett Ratten's injury in round 22 may have been another that cost our finals campaign dearly. Injuries to Whitnall, Porter and Allan during the year exposed a height deficiency that probably cost us a top four position ultimately.

Stephen Silvagni copped an injury that would bring tears to the eyes of all men so that may qualify as one of the worst injuries.

Well you can't go past David Neitz in round 7 getting his eye pocked out by a team mate which shall remain nameless! :D
But seriously Snell's injury was horrible! He did it right infront of where we were sitting and man it wasn't pretty! :o

Jason Snell's ankle. They popped it in 20 times, but it just had no ligaments at all to keep it in.

Nick Holland doing his shoulder twice...

Kouta and his knee in the Semi-Final.

McPharlin and Powell with their OP injuries...

The Hitman

Another WA pride addition:

Dean Kemp and his concussion forced him into retirement.

Was going to say the exact thing. Just sad. At one point in a game he just took a small hit and he had to come off with blurred vision and so forth :(

Poor Kempy, should have gone out better.

I think the worst injury in 2001 was Anthony Stevens doing his knee against West Coast in round 15 when he went down so did North's chance of making the finals.

I don't know how many of you interstaters saw this but it was bloody sickening. Went up for the mark over a player and landing on his neck! OUCH!

It's not the worst injury but when Watt went into convulsions from tough guy Lloydy it was pretty nasty looking. Same with Rohan Smith, you could see he was conscious but he couldn't move at all, they had to hold his arms up on his chest.

Also did they have to keep showing Jason Snell's injury over and over???

Ok, AFL level, Snells in the most sickening i've seen for a while, But Seriously, Luke Toia in the WAFL, THAT made me feel really sick, beats snells pretty convincingly.
Also, Seirakowski was terribly unlucky, 15 minutes in and he does his knee, goodbye season, i bet he'll be glad to see 1/4 time in Round 1 2002, if he hasn't done it again.

I'm now agreeing with kuepper - Toia's injury was the worst I've seen all season, and probably caused the most damage out of all the injured players.
