Just wondering what people would do if their team got up and won the GF this year, or for those without a team in the finals, next year. I ask this question especially of the fans who have not experienced GF success in a long time or never, such as the Port, Brisbane Lions, Richmond and Sydney fans?

For those that have celebrated GF success, what did you do? Did you go on a 21 day bender like John Barnes? Or were you so emotional and overcome you didn't need to drink?

As the Hawks haven't won a flag in 10 years I was only a kid last time. I hate to think what I will do if we actually win another one - at first I'd probably be too busy jumping around to do anything. Then I would probably just get on the p!ss for at least a week, tell work I'm not coming in. I also made a promise I would definitely get a Hawks tattoo if we merged/folded and would consider one if we won a flag, so depending on how drunk I was I may get that done as well.

I was only 15 when we won in 95' so I couldn't go to a pub or anything like that. Went to Princes Park that night and the following day. Wore my Blues jumper for the next week and watched the replay a sickening amount of times.

If we won now, believe me, I would have a HUGE night on that Saturday night...and Sunday night....and....

Well my plane back to Perth doesn't leave until 9.15pm the wednesday after the GF, hopefully I will have finished celebrating & manage to stumble my way back to Tulla in time for the flight.:D

How 'pre-emptive' of you Sandie!! We haven't made it that far yet!! ;)

If we won again...i'll be doing exactly what i did last season. Get sloshed!! :D

After the 97 Grand Final which I watched on a big screen at home with about 40 mates I ran into the back yard stripped down to my jocks and poured $4 champagne all over my head.

Then went on to drink until 3 in the morning after starting at 10 the morning before.

Got five hours sleep - started driking again whilst watching all the footy shows and laughing at how pissed off all the Victorian panelists were. Kept drinking till about 10 pm on Sunday night and hit the wall.

Had monday off work.

In 98 I went to the game, and had to catch the train back that night. Drank in the train bar till it closed at 1 am and then had to edure another 10 hours of horrific train journey.

My soccer team then won the cup final the next day and I got pissed again. Magic stuff.

IF we won it this year, I think I will be more circumspect, after all we expect success down at West Lakes these days.

Why just Brisbane? Why should Essendon, Port Adelaide, Richmond etc miss out??

Or maybe I should just shut up while im ahead .....

:D

I feel for you GOALden Hawk, i was a kid when we won our last flag too. Unfortunately i didn't get to enjoy the success of the 80's.

When (not if ;)) we win one i will probably go to the club and drink till i can drink no more! I'm looking forward to it. ;)

I will probably die of a heart attack at the sound of the final siren seeing that I will be 50 years old next year when we win it!  :p

Ashes to be scattered in the scoreboard goal square of the Whitten Oval. (The goal square where Beasley kicked THAT goal, Collingwood supporters! ;) )

Im sure if Port Power won...i would consume a dangerous amount of alcohol, in the company of 1 (or 10) lovely young ladies, while going nuts at Billy Bells pub!!!

If i dont go to the grand final...then i will get so drunk at Alberton i wont be moving for a week!!
Mind you if Port win the grand final, i think the whole of Port Adelaide will take a month of work just to celebrate.

Not to mention the fact i will be heading off to a tattoo place to get a Power tattoo with 'Premiers 2001' written under neath probably on my shoulder

re:

Have a coronary (Geelong).

Seriously, I won't be able to watch it - after 4 losing GFs in a row....

but i am led to believe it will be within my lifetime (26 currently)

Golden Hawk,

I've promised myself a tatt as well if the Hawks win. Straight out of the G, straight to a tattoo parlour.

When the Hawks last won the flag, I was a bit blaise about the win-it just seemed like business as usual. Plus I was completing my HSC/VCE -hitting the booze wasn't really an option.

When they win the elusive number 10, I'm taking the advise of Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley "Rock n Roll All Night, Party Every Day".

I can speak on behalf of Blues_Girl here.

97/98... we yelled, screamed, cried... hugged people we didn't know... fell off the MCG bucket seats while trying to clamber towards the front... rang every person we knew and screamed down the phone at them... sang the song several times (badly)... danced down Lygon Street waving every bit of Crows memorabilia that we could find at passing cars... sang songs like "We Are The Champions" and "Simply The Best" the whole way home... waved scarves at every truck that drove past in the hope that they'd blow their horns... went back to Wayville for the player presentation... then we had the tickertape parade a few days later... aaaaagh it was sensational... Adelaide was just abuzz.

Next time, I fear that more alcohol will be involved, and I also want to fly back to Adelaide directly after the game so I can see the reaction over here, rather than in Melbourne. I guess most of the diehards were over there for the Grand Final, which made for a great atmosphere, but I'd definitely like to be home to celebrate here.

Best feeling ever.

Being a girl, I will cry.

Hahaha... nevermind being a girl... everyone was in tears when the siren went for our Grand Finals, men included.

It's just the best feeling you could ever hope to experience... your emotions get the better of you.

In 99 I cried when we bombed out in the prelim (so did 99% of the people in the room watching the game), and I am 100% sure I would have bawled if we had won it.

Should we make then win a prelim this year, I am pretty sure I will be a nervous wreck all week, and fear I may be too tired to do anything if we were to be the winners at the final siren on GF day. Tho a few quick rum's would probably snap me back into reality and party mode!

I was 6 when Hawthorn won our last flag, and all I remember is the batmobile, Peter Sumich hooking a lot of kicks, and me jumping up and down a lot.

I am the only Hawk in my family, so I will stickit up them, and when we win one after my 18th, I will get a tattoo on my back.

The Hitman

It will be just business as usual, us Port people are very accustomed to Grand Final success, we have rituals that have stood the test of time, and still they seem fresh and welcome every year.

Although this year we will be saluting a dear departed true believer, and father figure, we will have several beers for you Fos, you legend

collingwoods inevitable 4 premierships on a trot (2002/03/04/05) can only mean bad news for my liver now that I am over 18 however.

ps. essendon suck. go lions.
