What would Sydney want for Jesse White ?

He's probably killed his trade value over the past season and a bit....I doubt he's worth much as most recruiting staffs tend to watch the games these days.

Yes his trade has diminished from last year but I believe he could be a good tall forward. Lucas would be too much to pay but then again you can't get a good player for nothing and if Lucas has stagnated then it might happen.

IMO I hope we (North) have a crack at White for maybe someone like Urquart?

Doubt it, did he even play a game this year?

We'd probably take that Lucas deal, but it wont be offered because Whites stocks aren't that high.

Frankly he is worth more to us to hang onto and hope he comes good next year than he would be in a trade.

So unlikely to be traded on the hope that he comes good, as the payoff for trading him would be fairly small vs the cost of keeping him.

No way we'd go for Urquart, for all Whites faults he can still contribute as a ff/back up ruck in our best 22 when required,
whilst I doubt most offers of fringe players would even make our team.

Not worth the trade given his size, athleticism and potential.

What does this have to do with Lucas for White?

The OP wanted to trade Gibbs for Otten and Dangerfield.

That is not the worst trade option going around.

Dangerfield is over-hyped but managed to play midfield late in the season - So could be set for a break out season.

Otten will be a very good AFL player.

:D at Sydney fans turning down Lucas for White.

That'd be like us turning down Sam Reid for Mark Austin.

I don't think any Swans fans would turn that deal down. Lucas isn't exactly what we need (footskills aren't great), but he isn't exactly what we don't need either. Certainly would be a better option in the Swans team than Jesse White.

That said, I can't see it happening. We'd have to give at least our second rounder, and unless we could get a second rounder from elsewhere, I'd be hesitant to do that for a player we don't particularly need.

You're actually blaming White for EVERY one of Gibson's spoils??? That's so biased, and so wrong, that you're making a fool of yourself.

Yeah you're right!
Perhaps he was to blame for ONLY 10 of them.

Watch the game for a third time as I have. He was bad............real bad..............but let's keep him & give another 3 or 4 years of coaching on how to use his body & get to the right spots.

We have Lewis Johnston patiently waiting to be educated in the role. Spangher has even understood the forwards role in the 4 or 5 games he has played.
White's only defense is that he has been rucking.............................but that was dismal in comparison to Hale.

Trade him while he still 'shows potential'.

Once again though DG, if you think your opinions on here have more weight than mine & are "less foolish", I'm happy to just sit back & 'admire' !

White is a massive underperformer, has upside, but is becoming increasingly frustrating to watch.

This is my point!

Good teams trade to improve their position.
As long as another team think they can turn Jesse around, then we can make a good trade for him.
If we went around again for another similar or worse year with him, then we lose bargaining power. Just because he is big doesn't mean that he will 'get it' one day at the Swans.

We've been talking about this Jesse White thing for 3 or 4 years now. He is actually worse now than 2 years ago. Confidence? Maybe. But the difference between 2 years ago & next year is that we will threaten for a top 4 spot & can no longer afford to teach these guys in a senior game of AFL. At our club he needs to be educated at reserve grade level now. He'll be of more value to a team that is at rock bottom (Melbourne) where he can develop with their new gameplan.
Let him try to 'get it' at another club & in their valuable time! In the mean time, let's trade for a player that already 'gets it' but wants a change of club!

How about White for Ward? Oh no thats right you don't have him anymore:p

Yeah... ok. White is a spud. You aren't going to get anything good for him. If you do trade him, it will be like the Mckinley trade last year.

I don't know if you were trying to insult me, or trying to be funny, but whichever one it was, it didn't work...

Of course you would! If I was a Swans supporter, I would be happy with pick 70.

And this is precisely why he won't be traded, as it is better to hang onto him and hope he eventually does live up to his potential, than trade for pick 70.

Because even if he doesn't all we have missed out on is pick 70, and if he does then we have an agile, quick, big bodied full forward, who can also backup ruck.

Oh, have a sook ... all I said was that to blame ONLY Jesse White was foolish.

I'd have thought Bate for White is a fair trade.

In what way...

White is a spud who can play a role in our side at the moment, Bate is a spud that wouldn't get a game with us.

As said for all Whites downsides, he is still an 197cm 100kg+, quick, agile player who can fulfill multiple roles, and has huge potential (even if he isnt living up to it).
