If you were in charge of fixtures at AFL HQ, who would you have to start Round 1 of the 2020 AFL season?
Btw, Richmond and Carlton play annually on Round 1.Thurs: Richmond vs West Coast MCG
Fri: Essendon vs Western Bulldogs Etihad
Sat arvo: Port Adelaide vs Gold Coast
Sat twilight: GWS vs Fremantle
Sat night: Melbourne vs Collingwood
Sunday arvo: Adelaide vs Brisbane
Sunday arvo: Hawthorn vs Geelong
Sunday twilight: St Kilda vs Sydney
You don't want to give away too many huge matches because it'll be hype as it's round 1. But you need a few and I reckon there's some good match ups here.

Personally I think the Premiership team should start the season a week before hand and play the AA team from the year before. If I was in charge, the match-ups would be pulled out of a hat, rather than doctored by the AFL
But what if the some of the AA players are in the premiership team?Personally I think the Premiership team should start the season a week before hand and play the AA team from the year before.
Play it on a Friday or Saturday night a great tune up for all players involved with any $$$ made out of the game to be giving to a nominated charity.
Just hopefully Mr AFLX $75k man makes himself unavailable for the game.
So no footy in WA or SA during rnd 1My ideal matches round 1 would be this below

Good round for crowds, and plenty of interesting games.Townsville would be a good place to open up the season for North Queensland. Not a boring start like this season. This is just one of the many round 1 thoughts that i have.
