I would go with the best 2 midfielders available at the time.

Pick 2: Xavier Ellis/ Marc Murphy (Either one available at Pick 2)

Pick 5: Andrew Swallow (I like what I hear about Swallow)

2: Xavier Ellis / Shannon Hurn

5. Shannon Hurn / Josh Kennedy

But what the hell do I know. Just rank your top 5 and pick the highest ranked kid!

As for Swallow, I don't like what I hear (ie. poor kicking).

Don't waste top picks on poorly skilled players. Two quality midfielders I like but make sure their skills are good.

seems we can all lock in ellis with pick 2 now. as far as pick 5 goes, um, first preference hurn, second preference probably nathan jones. id be looking at a kpp at pick 21, hopefully a spangher or lucy or bower are available then. although, if we make a push for polak, then that changes things a bit.

If Ryder or Kennedy are around at pick 5 no choice, have to pick them

if you really want nathan jones, trade pick 21 and something else to get pick 15 or so and u will get him. he isnt worth pick 5! neithe ris hurn really for that matter i would rather trade pick 5 and get bartel then hurn!

Based on what I saw tonight, Bartel should re-sign on the same salary level as James Kelly and be ********en grateful!

He's slow. He tries hard inside, but he's no bull (eg. Ricciuto). If he can't get in the game, which he struggled to tonight under high pressure, he looks like Brayden Shaw!

No way would I give up pick 5 for him.

Bartel sure did lose admirers tonight with a ******** poor effort, James Kelly and Ling are the two best midfielders for Geelong, shame they aren't on the market.

FootyDraft have got him ranked the 3rd best midfielder in the draft. I have heard that his kicking does let him down, but that can all change around with a little bit of hard work.

That's half our problem - recruiting blokes with basic deficiencies and thinking "we can fix them".

If a player in the under 18's has poor skills then we don't want him.

the queries seem to be around pick 5. i mean, id say hurn, and well, jones was the next one id say but it seems like it could go so many ways, guys like ryder, kennedy, varcoe. i think its best that if we look at what will be left at 5. if we assume it goes 1. murphy, 2.ELLIS, 3. ryder, 4. hurn, then we might be looking at guys like kennedy, varcoe or maybe even drum?

Cole was hardly a project player and would of gone pick 5-10 if he didn't have his shoulder injured and was out for the year. He was a risk (and not a big one mind you) but never a project player.

I want Ellis with #2 and preferably Hurn with #5. If not then Ryder/Kennedy/Varcoe

We are all forgetting (me too) that the Draft Camp will have an impact on where players are ranked. Especially someone the likes of Hurn. If Hurn, who's main doubt is obviously pace, shows he has dc average pace/acceleration he will not slip past #4 at all unless Hawthorn goes for kpp on #3 and Carlton do the same with #4.
If X-El on the other hand has a bad draft camp for whatever reason then we may opt for Hurn.

Is Varcoe consistent?
I'm not sure he has been injured since fairly early in the year.
I don't watch any TAC games but I saw alot of the Rep games and I am basing my judgement loosely on the type of players they are.
