Every year the media covering the draft get criticized for doing a poor job. So how can the coverage be improved and what information do people want to hear?

I would like to see a more indepth into some of the draftees, their backround where they have played, position, injury histroy etc etc. It all should be part of the broadcast.

Mabye have a different time slot so more people can actually watch it, because i know of a lot of people who cant see it due to work commitments.

Highlight packages for each player.

Coupled with Wiz's profiles, it'd make imagining the future a bit easier.
There will be draft coverage on AFL.com (With Peter Donegan who does no research and probably Alan McConnell) and on SEN. The Wiz's profiles are fairly meaty and with 5 minutes between picks you wouldn't get halfway through one, how about an MX version rather than the Sunday Age?

The old Channel 7 one was ok when they did a full coverage with the odd interview. But the fact is it doesn't rate so unless Fox Footy pick it up it won't be on tv in it's entirety. There are hardly any highlights of most players to show anyway.

I read somewhere that it was the clubs who asked to scrap the live TV coverage. With 7 doing interviews between draft picks it slowed up the whole process and the clubs weren't happy.

Channel ten have the 'rights' to show the draft but choose to have a one hour 'highlights' package in the afternoon. Foxtel I'm sure would be happy to show the draft in its entirity but can't because as metioned previously ten have the rights.
