Fletcher and Chapman to retire.

Ambrose to stay in play every game and give him every chance of developing further as a forward.

Out: Stanton In: Browne/Fanta.. any kid to take his place once we get either Myers, Hocking, Zaka back.
Out: Howlett In: Hocking
Out: Kav In: Myers
Out: Chapman In: Jerrett/Fanta
Out: Gleeson(rested) In: Another kid

In: McKernan - been killing it at VFL level. Lets see if it can translate to AFL level. The game might have turned in his favour. Stefan Martin was a spud and now he's a pretty good player.

Winderlich/Cooney subs and rotated with Laverde/Langford for a few games. If we are being ruthless than Winderlich should retire but we'll be a basket case if we twisted his arm to play and then ask him to retire not long after.

Dempsey.... hmmmm. Like him and think he can still be a good player but along with Stanton must make way for a kid to develop.

Stanton hate is out of control - dude was best or second best on ground for us today and you want his head for a kid in the VFL? Alright mate.

I think we need a shift in the way we set up, and use youth... For mine:

B: Hooker Carlisle Bags
HB: Hibberd Hurley Winderlich

Carlisle is a full back, do it and don't look back. Licka in to generate some serious attack with clean disposal.

C Z Merrett Myers Coyler
F Heppell McKernan Stanton

Saviour in, Z Merrett full time midfielder, rock and roll

HF Zaka Goddard Melksham
FF Watson Daniher Langford

Only one KPP forward, use dash and run through the fwd line.. team to focus on crumbing and creating opportunity going forward without relying on JD.

Bench: Kav, Gleeson, Cooney, Edwards (S)

IN: Licka, McKernan, Zaka, Langford, Myers
OUT: Chappy, Ambrose, Howlett, Gwilt, Fantasia

First to come in based on form: Dalgleish, Laverde, Fantasia, Browne, Jerrett.

I really like this team. Only change I would make is to have bring Fantasia in, probably for Gleeson.

For me I can't see beyond whether WADA withdraw their appeal. They proceed with the appeal and we'll funk it up for the rest of the year, they withdraw the appeal and I think we'll see an improvement and we'll better be able to assess things. Right now the players are mentally fried, the WADA decision to appeal knocked them for six and they haven't recovered imo.

More than 1 goal a qrt.

Underrated post!
To expand on this idea, how about we play some attractive (scoring) football that isn't torture to watch.
I'd like to at least see the end of this current game 'plan' (for want of a better word) as it currently doesn't work and the players don't look too enthusiastic trying to play it.

B: Baguley Hurley Fletcher/Gwilt (1)
HB:Gleeson(2) Hooker Hibberd (3)
C: Zerrett Heppell Zaharakis
HF:Colyer Carlisle Goddard
FF:Laverde/Langford Daniher Fantasia
F: McKernan Watson (4) Stanton
I: Edwards Melksham (5) Browne (6) Kav

Please note: We're going to revolutionize the AFL by adopting the little known super-tactic of just not picking a sub.

(1) - Don't mind who we play out of these two. Gwilt has been great in the VFL all year, and has been serviceable when called upon in the 1sts. It'll depend on injuries/matchups for me. When he's played, Fletch has been good, so neither's form is an issue for me.
(2) - Hasn't been as good this year, but still showing a bit. Needs to make sure he attacks and takes opponents on, since that's why he's in the team. Suspect the bye will do him some good.
(3) - On notice, but he's a very important player to us. Given the lack of forward structure, I'm going to cut him some slack. Wouldn't mind it if he started to use a stiff-arm every now and then, or used checkside kicks when necessary to temporarily overcome his one-sidedness. Right foot would be nice to acquire during the off-season.
(4) - Thought he was good on the weekend. If the "Carlisle-back-Fletcher-retires-McKernan-save-us" clause gets activated, he's certainly someone I would look at as a makeshift forward option. As for the moment, I'd like it if he rested forward for a bit, but spent most of his time in the middle.
(5) - I'm one of his larger critics, but his overall season has been an improvement this year. His effort against Geelong and Richmond were poor (I thought) but got a bit of it against the Eagles and restricted Schuey. Having said that, certainly would like to continue to improve, because **** he can do some dumb stuff and I don't think we can afford to get rid of him this year.
(6) - Is a saucy minx.

Would also be happy to see: Dalgleish, Jerrett (if given more midfield time).

I suspect Myers, Hocking and Winderlich will all need more time in the VFL since they've been out for so long.

Now, is it obvious I have a Uni assignment due yet?

I see David's name thrown around a bit... Injury list said he's still a few weeks away? Surely he'd have a game or two in the magoos also?

Musts: Hooker, Hurley, Baguley, Hibberd, Zerrett, Colyer, Heppell, Carlisle, Daniher

Should: Kav, Gleeson, Fantasia, Edwards, Zaharakis, Dempsey, Bellchambers/McKernan/Giles

Maybe: Browne, Ambrose

Senior: Stanton, Watson, Goddard, Chapman, Howlett, Myers, Hocking, Cooney, Fletcher, Gwilt

So, if you play all the Musts/Should/Maybe, that's 4 spots left for the 10 seniors.

That's plain silly. Not to mention confusing...

Spot on. I don't understand how so many of our own supporters are underestimating the impact it is having.

1. Bold selections made with a view to the future of the club.

2. 100% effort and endeavour from the selected players, coming up short after trying your guts out is fine, being insipid and spineless will turn the members into an angry mob.

3. End of coaching speculation. Hird is contracted until end 2016, short of player suspension he should coach out that contract. The last thing the club needs is further instability centred around knifing the coach in the back after fighting so hard to keep him. If he needs to go at the end of 2016, so be it.

4. WADA to **** off.

End of season some serious calls need to be made on the list. Some aggressive trading to fill holes and heads removed from arseholes to get the place back on track.

More of:
Laverde, Langford, Dalgleish, Browne, Fantasia, Kavanagh, Smack, Gleeson

Less of:
Chapman
Cooney
Fletcher (would like him to retire but also understand we need to let him go out on his own accord)
Howlett
Out of form Melksham (is being played wrongly IMO so may aswell play him in the 2nds)
Ambrose
Out of form TBC

Mckernan and Bellchambers in. (I've heard mixed reports of Bellchambers performance in the VFL but majority says he did very well).

Ambrose and Chapman out.

Cooney stays in for another week but if he doesn't perform and dempsey plays another good game in the VFL then we swap these two.

This is on the basis I haven't given up on finals yet.

If it gets to the point where we have missed the finals then play the kids (not sure which ones yet tbh)

You think we can still make finals being 4-8 (assuming we lose to the hawks)

It would be worse for us to just scrap into finals somehow anyway then finish where we currently are and get some good picks.

After the bye would like to see fewer skill errors (missed targets and kicking for goal). The skill errors in the last 3 weeks seem as bad as I can remember. Whether it's 'confidence', a WADA distraction or a game plan that is unsuited to the group, would like to see some attractive and skillful ball movement. Also want to see how Browne, Dalgleish and McKernan perform in several consecutive games in the seniors, and some more game time for Edwards.

Edit: would like to see fletch pass KB's 404 and move into second place on games played*... and one last monster goal from 55+, and it doesn't have to be a torp.

* if team balance, form etc. permit blah blah blah
