Are you a slob that can't go two hours without getting your sugar fix at the expense of the viewing experience of others? Sad.

If I wanted to pay to watch animals eating sloppily I'd go to the zoo.

Make the cinema experience immersive again.
lmaoo nah it annoys me for the first 10 mins whilst everyones scoffing their treats.. but it aint that serious lol

There would be no cinemas without food....

Went to an Event Cinemas screening in Innaloo the other night. After over two decades of going to films and having at least 10 minutes, generally more like 20 minutes of ads and trailers, I was in no rush to get to my 1830 screening. Walk in at around 1833 and the film has already started! Worse than that, people were continuing to filter in and assuming it was still ads, blabbing away. So it's 10 minutes into the film before the whole audience is in and clued on to what's happened.

I have no problem with no ads, and the film finished 30 mins earlier than advertised. But surely you have to let us know when we buy our tickets that this is happening?
What was the film? Advance screenings are more likely to have no ads and trailers. They also don’t have to tell you that there isn’t any. If you aren’t there on time for the session then that’s on you regardless of ads or not.

I realise it sounds ridiculous, but perhaps it works differently where you are? I've been going to the movies on average probably monthly since I was a kid, and I've never not had at least 10 minutes of ads in all this time. Had 25 minutes of ads for The Shape of Water in the exact same cinema the week before. The cinemas here also show the start and end time as when the ads start playing and when the credits finish rolling. My ticket showed 9pm finish and the screen was black by 835pm, so quite clearly someone simply forgot to roll the ads.

Was Phantom Thread btw, which had been widely released in Australia by this time.

I used to be a projectionist so I know what goes on more than most. We were always given a list of what ads/trailers had to be included before the film in both 35mm prints and digital. We would get film at occasionally where we were asked not to put any in.

It is possible however, someone majorly screwed up and forgot to put any in but regardless, they put a time there so people will make it on time. If you aren’t there and the film starts earlier than usual then that’s in the individual.

Absolutely correct that we should get there on time. But by the same token, they put a finish time on the tickets so if that's incorrect, what's the point?

My post is obviously making me sound like one of those knobs who rocks up chatting to his mates halfway through the trailers. I am usually sitting there looking at a black curtain for 5 minutes, but again, I've never not had trailers so wasn't rushing, and what do you know? I'll be there 10 minutes early from now on.

Fantastic film btw, for those wondering.

From memory, the finish time was never 100% correct due to the ads and trailers put in. It’s a rough guide.

That bit in Fight Club about them 'splicing in' a frame of pornography to otherwise-normal movies in the projection booth. Possible? I realise the whole thing's likely digital these days and not film, which would actually make things easier...

I'd pay double for a cinema experience not having to endure some fat ass that can't go 2 hours without eating anything.

Popcorn, junkfood in loud wrappers and choc tops can go and get ******. Eat before or after the movie dickwipes.
I'll never understand why cinemas sell snacks that are noisy as all *.

Allocated seating is awesome, love the fact you don't have to get to the cinemas hours before a blockbuster release just to line up to get a decent seat.
I agree in general, but it sucks when you have some tosser talking or texting or whatever and you can't move away.
