Growing up I never had a number on my Essendon Guernsey (always wanted #32), however, it was a long sleeve, and the only player I knew who wore long sleeves for Essendon was Brad Plain. Suffice to say, I used to run around the backyard kicking the footy pretending to be Brad Plain.
Bewick wore long sleeved jumpers too at times...maybe our small forwards nowadays need to do this to snag a few

Just wondering if anyone knows what happened to Brad Plain?
I always thought he was a very decent player - averaged nearly 2 goals a game and kicked a few bags against Sydney- pretty sure he won a couple of games at least off his own boot against them.
Just googled him and he missed the 93 finals series when he averaged over 3 goals a game - was it because of injury>??
then went to collingwood and north melbourne for short uneventfull stints.
always thought he was the consumate goalsneak but didnt get enough games - maybe sheedy didnt like him??
anyone know why he never got on the park that much and what he did after footy??
Went to Collingwood

After his afl playing days, he played a few years at Lower Plenty in the Diamond Valley in the late 90's. Pretty sure he played in there 1999 premiership team. He also played cricket at Montmorency and played in 2 premierships there. I think he also played at Northcote Park and Mernda as well, but don't quote me on that. I think he still lives in the northern suburbs.

He also played for a club in the now disbanded Heidelberg Districts Cricket Association called Loyal Sylvan based in West Heidelberg as their star batsman in the 90s. Same as his footy, a huge talent but all about himself.

It's funny how many players come & go having a shortish stint at the top level. Brad Plain was just a joy to watch when he was on in his short time. As good as any!

Talented but lazy. Had chronic achilles problems from memory & always seemed to start the year well esp in 90-93 but would fade badly & obviously missed both GF sides.

Remember the 8 under lights at SCG in 91??

Correct, we used to play cricket against them, they could have found a better name for the club....Loyal Sylvan yet they disbanded...oh the irony...

Brad Plain the footballer was as silky as mark Mercuri with a very poor fitness base and an ability to produce, loved watching him play...Story goes he wore the long sleeves because his Mum in Tassie never knew he had tatts..Amazingly we traded him out when his achilles was shot...
