Whatever happened to Matt Dunning?

Not a huge rugby fan, do follow on a very casual basis (but was lucky enough to win free tickets to the Super 15 final And watch the Wallabies at the RWC), but just want to ask one simple question;

What happened to Matt Dunning?

He was my favourite rugby player.

He was in the Western Force squad last year but think he's finished with professional rugby now. He had a few injuries in the last couple of years. Not sure if he's officially retired or not but I know a few weeks ago he played a game at no 8 for Hornsby in subbies rugby in Sydney.

Here's a fact about Matt Dunning you'd never believe. As a schoolboy he ran 100m in 10.99 seconds. That means that at one point Matt Dunning was faster than pretty much any footballer in any code in Australia is today (given Lachie Turner won that 'Australia's Fastest Footballer' race a couple of years ago in 11.1).

But he'll always be remembered for that drop goal.

Dunning was off to France but a serious neck injury forced him to retire.

Yeh my mate wrote a story about his appearance in Subbies in a local paper a few weeks ago. The accompanying photo did not do him any favours, I must say.
