There has been some bizarre comments coming from some of our leaders this week.

First we had the coach come out and say that the players don't have full confidence in their 21 team mates on the footy field. Now here is a theory Mr Scott. The lack of confidence in their team mates may stem from the fact the players continue to stuff up without repercussions. Try making an example of some of them. A bit of tough love isn't going to hurt them and you will still be invited to players bbq's I'm sure.

Secondly the captain then comes out the next day and says he's confused as to why we are inconsistent. Really Andrew are you that oblivious to the issues? Surely your weekly reviews you all sit through with your line coaches must reveal some reason why we are inconsistent as a team.

Thirdly I'm watching AFL360 on Foxtel and Petrie is on as a panellist with Bob Murphy and the topic turned to Gary Ablett not being cited for striking and when Drew was asked if he was concerned that Ablett would get rubbed out and cost him the Brownlow, Drew gave a long winded response about how bad it would have been if he got rubbed for an incident that happens a lot during a game blah blah blah. When Murphy was asked for his opinion he said "I haven't even thought about it, I have my own backyard to worry about".

Our leaders need a shake up. I have seem no improvement in the leadership since Ling took a role so I would like to see leading teams introduced. Time for the players to make each other accountable and demand more from each other because at this rate we are going nowhere.

Petrie isn't a good leader at all! Soft as.

I wish spitta had a bit of c you next Tuesday in him and really put his foot on the throat of some of underperforming players

The ball moves that slowly into our forward line these days, Drew has ample time to think about things without it affecting his performance.
I'm hearing that during the first half against Geelong he pretty much came up with a way to resolve the Palestinian conflict.

I would suggest that when one of our players does something that we deem "quality leadership" material, we lay back and wank each other at the sight of it. Frankly from the outside and this forum in particular, the leaders are overrated and don't appear to possess much at all when the going gets tough.

We have many nice blokes you can say that much. Don't have many %#¥£s who will lead by example when it's necessary. Anyway. Eagles in Perth? Sweeeeet.

Leadership group can take a break.
Atm, we should have co captains in dal santo and cunners. Types of players who should set the bar for team performance and on feild attitude

Need to get McDonald in the leadership group ASAP. Looks like he hates losing. That I am actually saying that is an indictment on our leadership group. He is a first year player. I so want us to win on Sunday. We owe these pricks and I get genuinely angry just thinking about that farkin club!

Too many nice guys down at Arden St I suspect. Lots of love in the air. I shudder at the thought of us winning a final - the pats on the back would be immense & it'd be a sense of 'mission accomplished' followed by a 100 point loss in the 2nd final, but that'd be ok, because we've `progressed'. Just small steps at NMFC. Lets not set the bar too high.

If we are going to anoint co-captains, my choices are going to be Ziebell and LMac. Youd go to war with both them blokes

So one of our senior players goes on a show to answer questions, he answers the questions in an articulate well thought out manner and that's a reflection on leadership at the club?

Some of you are really struggling to find shit to throw at the club.

I think you are 100% correct, LMac is the only bloke playing in that jumper that gives a damn and as such should be made captain ASAP. HIs excitement when winning should be bottled and given to the rest of the plodders out there who seem more than content to get a game each week.
We need players who bleed Blue and White and have some mongrel in them, we have become soft and its killing me.
Get that bloody boxing ring back that used to be in the old grandstand and pound the cr@p out of each other and last man standing wins the captaincy.
I am pretty sure Luke McDonald would be the winner in a landslide
And yep that is truly truly sad

Yep this softly softly stuff is pissing me off - what happened to the team that even at 30 to 40 points down would have a crack.
We need to get someone in that can instil hardness cos this team has lost it

Do we include our coaches in the definition of club leaders? You typically appoint leaders who define what the company / club etc stands for culturally. Then there are the leaders who aren't formally appointed but stand up as a natural reaction to circumstance. Spitta / Drew probably fit the former....the latter is open to debate.

With all due respect to Wellsy and Spitta and any other evangelists in our side, the team resembles a choir group than a footy side.

The only exceptions are McDonald and Levi.

One has played 8 games, the other a fringe player.

Scott has made a concerted effort to draft players of 'exemplary character' and this is the result. Get done after a dismal showing against the Cats, and soon as the siren sounds, looks as though they are leaving a LifeHouse concert. No anger, no bitterness, no disappointment. Just high 5's and cuddles all round.

I cant recall where i heard it but a commentator mentioned that Cameron Ling told the leaders of the club before the Geelong game to be prepared as Geelong were going to come out fuming after the lose against Freo especially the contested possessions. We all saw what happened in the first quarter so it shows where the leaders are at.

So what your saying is Scoob is that Lingy on Wednesday arvo sat down with Spitta, Drew, Ziebz, Dal and Thompson and said, boys Geelong were embarrassed last week by the Dockers. They will come out breathing fire. We must be on for this game!
Thanks Lingy! Cheers for that Cam! Your a gun Lingy!
Get to Friday and Geelong kick 5 in a row in 20 minuteso_O
****in soft

This is spot on! Did anyone else see the photo (can't remember where it was posted) after Friday night's game of the boys walking off the ground? The players at the front look visibly disappointed and embarrassed, then you see Drew at the back with a big old smile on his face. It looked like he was having a great time.

the over-estimation of McDonald on this board is hilarious. first-year player, barely keeping a grip on his place in side, and you want him in the leadership group ...

Bit of an exaggeration? Has repeatedly put his more experienced teammates (McMahon, Mullett and Wright) to shame with his work rate and defensive nous.
