I know they do work on it with their players, in fact a few of them are actually sent to do specific gymnastics training (Kenny being one btw - but his was more to do with landings as he has the same problems that Mark Stevens had).

I'm saying that I don't think you realise that core stability is more important than upper body strength and most footy clubs have only now started to do more core stability exercises as part of the warm ups etc. You do also realise that bulking up the upper body also causes most players to slow down not speed up?

Plus I think you haven't really observed the afc forward line for the last two years if you think we are going to have a stay at home full forward or forward pocket player. Not gonna happen. Our forwards have to have the ability to run all day and to change up forward from being the one inside the forward 50 to being the lead up forward.
This has been half our problem over the past 2 years, there isn't a stay at home bloke, despite having a specialist in Welsh and so when our half backs and wingers come streaming out of defence they have no one to kick to as all the forwards are crowded at CHF and this is too short and no one is long. No wonder blokes like Mattner have no idea what to do when they get it.

Well if AFC haven't taken core strengthening seriously then I'd be amazed. It would be disappointing if they hadn't, and irresponsible. As you have pointed out, core strength/stability is important for any athlete.

So given that we have signed him for another 2 years, where to nxt for Kenny?

if Burton gets over his injuries I would think he'll go back to playing on the wing rather than the forward lines.
with the injuries Burton's had over his career i find it hard to believe he'll ever play as a permanent midfielder ever again he might float up there occasionally but he'll probably play as a permanent half forward/forward pocket player for the rest of his career.

Great to hear Kenny's staying at least for the next 2 years :thumbsu:

Go read my post again - I stated that I know that the afc are doing specific work with certain players that need more assistance in that area. Plus they have started including some core work as part of their warm ups (which have changed for most clubs btw).

Believe it or not I understood what you wrote and was agreeing with you.

But the question remains, what role will Kenny play in the team for the next 2 years? Or, what does he have to do to be a regular in the team?
