It's assuming that they have their eyes on other folk, e.g. perhaps Croad, McPharlin etc. or maybe they just don't want another small guy.

I suppose with fremantle with pick 1 will pick farmer and stkilda with the 2nd being commited to black which leaves pick 3 to w/c who could get misiti

i heard on radio that a trade between Misiti and Scotland/Lane and possible draft pick. Sheedy likes Lane, and Essendon dont mind Scotland.
At Least we get something out of that deal! It's better than nothing!

Croad cannot go in the preseason draft, he is still contracted with Hawthorn!!!

Umm if Misiti goes into the preseason draft, and the Dockers manage to get Croad, then the Dockers will definately pick up Misiti. If Dockers can't arrange a deal with Croad and McPharlin, then McPharlin will get picked up in the pre-season draft.
Saint Kilda also might pick up Misiti if Freo don't because there will be a 4 or 5 team deal which will see Farmer and Black traded, rather than picked up in the pre-season draft.

The later draft (Febuary?) which is all players looking basically for a second chance is a lottery for first place this year

Umm but if Misiti goes into the draft, isn't it up to the club how much they want to offer Misiti?
Well I think Freo will have enough room in the cap anyway, all they have to do is delist Metro whos on a $270000 a year contract.
