Why would a good Adelaide boy wanna play in the land of the dead, for the pack of duds known as Fremantle?

Surely he wants to get out that mess and play for a decent team like the Crows :)

So c'mon, what would yous trade for Pavlich??

I could see

Vardy and a first rd pick heading to Fremantle

Vardy & 1st round...you could only wish to get off that lightly.

Put it into perspective here:

Pavlich is only 18/19...he is the face of the future dockers outfit. The Dockers can revolve the whole side around Pavlich at CHF...he is one player that could pick them up out of the doldrums.

Vardy is an inconsistent forward who plays about 2 good games a year and spends more time worrying about the crowd and deckin someone than the actual ball. Wont happen.

What i reckon you would be saying bye bye to is 2 players and a draft pick.

Youd have to say goodbye to a forward to cover the loss of Pavlich (Beinke, Crowell, Perrie, Richardson, Hewitt)...plus a top young player or top 6 player at your club (Skipworth, Mcleod, Stenglien, M Stevens, CLarke, Goodwin)

I would say its either these two combinations:
Perrie and Stenglien + 2nd round draft pick.
Hewitt and Stenglien + 2nd round draft pick.

I think the crows are better of trying to get RYan Fitzgeald back to Adelaide

u r absolutely rite macca there is no way pavlich would come to adelaide for just one player and one draft pick he is worth more than that and i recon after seeing what brown done and clive staying with freo i recon pavlich will be with freo for a long time to come
plus if pavlich needs to go home cause of an illness to a family member or a death or something he will be free to go for a few weeks just like clive was when his dad was ill and pavlich knows he is part of the future of freo so to be apart of the unsuccessfull freo wouldn't be rite if he wasn't here for the successful times

Well Freo might lose him for nothing if he chooses to go into the draft in a years time when his contract finishes. Should a Melbourne club have the first pick, Pavlich might decide a Victorian club is close enough to home, so I don't think Freo should be too stubborn if it looks as if Matty definitely wants to leave. Having said that, Freo or WC may have that first pick for a few years to come. :D

I think Vardy, Hewitt and a draft pick
Perrie, Vardy and a draft pick

or include Stenglein in there

I wouldn't want to lose Stenglein but I say bite the bullet and trade him if it means getting Pavlich. Stenglein has been a really good player for us, can play a number of roles but he's hardly going to develop into a matchwinner. Pavlich could be that kind of player and will be the future of the club. I reckon we have to do something if we're going to move further up the ladder in the next 2 or 3 years.

matthew pavlich knows he is part of the future of the freo footy club and i recon any player would want to be with a club that has gone through bad times and then gets good times
it is worth going through the bad times just to feel how great it is when u have big success
matty is loved at the footy club and i think he will be just as loyal as leigh and stay

Considering this is the club that gave us Andrew McLeod for Chris Groom, surely we could offer them one D.Gallagher?

We'll throw in Adam Richardson, tell 'em he's the next Plugger and Freo won't know the difference. LOL

A typo there, Macca - surely you meant "2 players and a daft prick" :D

Hes just signed on for another year. Any chance we can still get these trades away?

Wow. Imagine if either of these trades had happened. Premierships galore!

Wouldve given all of the following for him:

I also like that Skipworth is a top young player and Clarke is a top anything player.

I remember a 13 year old Pav strolling out onto our main oval for footy training with his old man, and every year 11/12 looking at him and unanimously thinking "wow".

Was always going to be a superstar. The universe's way of squaring up the McLeod for Groom deal...

Though undrafted by anyone as a 17 year old. I honestly had never heard of him until just before his final SNAFL season. Were scouts not on the ball back then.

Clubs were only allowed to draft 1x 17yo at that time. That means each club had precisely 1 opportunity each to draft him. Adelaide chose Ken McGregor instead, only for Pav to have a breakout season at SANFL level the following year. As far as I know, he wasn't on the radar of too many other clubs when it came to the 17yo option.

For the record, KMac turned out better than most of the 17yo kids selected that year, so it's not as if we did badly - it's just that Pav turned out to be a superstar.
