Begin Again

Not sure why I really cared to give it a go, except for the fact that Ruffalo is involved but it turned out to be a beauty.
Knightley had her moments also but laid the ham on just a little too heavily at times.

Acting aside this still made for a quality story that you couldn't but smile through the majority of it. 7/10

EDIT: Ruffalo looked more Wayne Coyne (Flaming Lips) than Coyne himself.
HARKER can you pls do me a favour and PM me how this ends? (Last 25 mins). Had to walk out of my sess as most of the cinema couldnt keep their mouths shut for the duration of the movie.

And yeah, I agree with you! Nice enough flim, nothing spectacular but I did enjoy what I saw of it.

Predestination (2014) Sci Fi thriller

Ethan Hawke, Noah Taylor and a superb standout performance that blew me away from Sarah Snook (who in some scenes in the bar reminded me she looked just like Leo DiCaprio which is strange, cos think 'Inception' as a film it sort of like.)

Essentially a 3 actor movie and they had to be good and they were. As the film progresses you can see where it will end still its a good ride to get there.

Brought to the big screen by Queenslanders Michael & Peter Spierig from a short story by Robert Heinlein.

*The other best part. Filmed in Melbourne!
** This film also opened the 2014 MIFF (Melb Int Film Festival)

NOAH

I thought they changed the ending cause they're soft cocks. Soft as all those who thought only the will of man is what matters and there is no creator. Would think that somewhere later down the track Ham would come back and spread is version of selfishness on Noahs children and grandchildren.

Came out of this movie feeling sorry for Noah and the watchers. The watchers again trusted man and were again let down. This time by a bloody women (noahs woman)who betrayed Noah in a very unearthly fashion. Preyed on Noahs old lonely father. The ultimate act of domestic violence.

Not enough Noahs in this world, he was good man, well the Noahs that the icelandic filmmakers portrayed.

The Rover - what a boring pointles movie this was. Will there ever be another aussie movie that isnt slow and minimal dialogue? It seems just about most Aussie films are super slow and anything in the outback has to have about 30 mins showing the outback.

Then the whole storyline, had some potential but didnt know anything about Guy Pearce's character and why he wanted the car back (and that ending, poor). And Pattinson i could hardly understand at times.

Just a crap movie.

Enter the Void. Thought it was an excellent dark and grimy film, well shot with a great soundtrack. 9/10
Just watched this on your recommendation. I thought it was rather good and a really interesting idea for a movie. It dragged on a little bit however. it couldve been just as effective in 100 minutes rather than 160.

It works better if one has dabbled a bit in psychedelics themselves.

Yeah you're right on a few accounts there :p Great stoner move and i think (if i'm not wrong) the second half of the film is really one long continuous shot which adds to the feeling that it drags on longer than it should, too. I thought i read somewhere there is a shortened version of the film? If there is they probably should've released that at the cinema and left the 160min version as a directors cut or something. Might not have failed as hard at the box office as it did? I dunno, really enjoyable though.

The sex in it was pretty gratutious. I'm kinda surprised that it didnt go better in the box office on that alone.

I just realised the sister is that sexy chick from Boardwalk Empire.

Watched a few movies today

Frank - Fassbender is great as always. Really strange film but enjoyed it. 3.5/5

Begin Again - Didn't expect to love this that much but it was absolutely top notch. Keira Knightley still looks pretty hot too. 4.5/5

Boyhood - This could be the film of the year for me. It doesn't have striking CGI or action but the drama and the dialogue is absolutely first rate. The novelty of the characters actually growing up in front of you doesn't hinder, in fact, it actually helps the film immensely. Must see for film lovers everywhere.
5/5

Watching the Rover atm.

Million Ways to dies in the west: Went in hoping for it to be funny (loved ted) but found it pretty boring. Had some funny moments but alot of the jokes completely missed in my opinion. Pretty disappointing

I assume this one is aimed at a younger audience than myself & it doesn't really cut it as a horror flick, but the different way in which it takes a look at adolescent angst etc was intriguing enough for me to find it a worthwhile watch, & I thought it overall was well done.

Million ways to die in the west: Love ted so going in was expecting good things. this was pretty poor. Most jokes bombed (were some good ones though, quite a few subtle ones were funny). Story line was pretty crap and because the jokes failed so did this movie.

7 Days (2010) - Harrowing stuff. French Canadian film with old favourite Remy Girard (The Barbarian Invasions) playing the jilted detective attempting to track down a man who's kidnapped the lead suspect of his daughter's murder. Good performance from the lead Claude Legault as the broken father. Really like the way it was filmed and the atmosphere the director created. Goes deeper than what I initially thought would be just some sort of torture film. 8/10

The Inbetweeners 2.

Not as good as the first one and certainly not as funny either, bit disappointing really, I was expecting a lot better.

A Most Wanted Man - absolutely superb movie.

Seymour Hoffman was brilliant and I really liked the gritty feel Anton Corbjin's direction gave the film. 9/10

State of Grace 7.5/10

It's a very good early 90's crime flick with an awesome cast: Sean Penn, Gary Oldman, Robin Wright, Ed Harris, John Turturro, and John C. Reilly. Oldman is brilliant and I had no idea how stunning Robin Wright was in her prime.
Watched this last night because of your recommendation. Got about 15m in and realised i had already seen it. But it is a good show, good crime flick. Awesome cast. Always interesting seeing older actors back in/before their heyday.

Having started to watch House of Cards its interesting to see a bit of Robin Wright's early work.
