Spotlight was terrific.

I know the cast is getting a good shout out but Shreiber is the star here, for me.
Not a word, glance, stare wasted. Perfect by way of performance but also by character. As interesting an individual as I've seen for some time.
7.5/10 for the movie. 10/10 for Shreiber.
Yep. I thought the same thing. Schreiber was fantastic.

Straight Outta Compton - not my taste at all when it comes to music but I did dig the beats a bit ( I mean, who cant like a song titled '**** the Police'o_O) & as a movie I found it very engaging. After having a brief read of other reviews it seems a fair bit got left out, which is not surprising given the nature of some of it, beating on women etc might not have gone down too well with most audiences...

But just as a movie experience I'd score it 7.5/10, although if I had know a bit more about these guys beforehand I probably would have given it a miss.

The Martian - 8/10
The most plausible of recent blockbuster space exploration movies, but that doesn't say much considering the plot-less, visual wank fest that was Gravity and the completely farcical final third of Interstellar (which I completely loved up to the point where shit got weird). Pretty good movie even though I'm no Matt Damon fan.

Creed - 5/10
Too many cliches, didn't give a shit about Adonis. I despised the montages and completely unrealistic plot and the seemingly completely unstructured way that his weight division seemed to work. Was pretty bland and I didn't connect with any of the characters and found myself not caring who won the inevitable big fight. The one thing I did like was that the "baddie" was an Everton supporter not a Liverpool fan.

The Revenant - no rating
I really didn't like it and gave up on it after 45 minutes. Because I didn't finish it I can't rate it but I can say it certainly wasn't my cup of tea. Other then 1 awesome Bear mauling everything I saw was completely boring and I'm not one to usually be bored by blockbuster releases. I didn't care about the characters, setting or the time period. I might try it again at some point.

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation - 0/10
A BMW got air over a set of stairs (no ramp) and done roughly 10 flips and Tom Cruise managed to walk away without a scratch. It is complete bullshit that Tom Cruise would beat anybody in a fight let alone guys twice his size, they could have at least tried to do his fight scenes in a realistic manner. There is a lot more to dislike about this movie but I can't be bothered giving any more time to this abortion of a movie. I am done with this completely awful franchise.

Dark Places - 6/10
I was engaged throughout and liked that I didn't want to predict the ending despite the mysterious nature of the movie. I dislike amnesia/repressed memories resulting in forgotten important pieces of the puzzle, it is just too convenient for writers to use.

Fantastic Four (2015) - 2/10
The only positive things I can say are that Kate Mara is hot and that this movie was better then the latest Mission Impossible. So many negatives I wouldn't even know where to start. When it started I couldn't pick why it got panned so hard, but it didn't take me long to figure it out. Do not watch.

The Man From UNCLE - 6.5/10
Another solid movie. They pulled off the whole comedy action thing and despite a couple of twists they didn't try to be too clever. I like that it didn't take itself too seriously and while I didn't find myself laughing out loud I did at least manage to appreciate the humour.

Pheonix- for such a ridiculously high rotten tomatoes rating (98%) I was fairly disappointed with this. It only really became vaguely interesting in the last 10-15 minutes. Though I was fairly hung over. 5/10.

I'm not really sure to be honest, but what I got was the opposite of the type of movie I enjoy.
Surely you knew what it was like before watching it?

Bizarre to have watched something if you were expecting the complete opposite.

I clearly stated that I didn't know what to expect.

I'd only seen the first one of the reboot which was years ago and I watched Rogue Nation without any idea that it would be complete shit based off the previous movies in the series.

If you're going to quote me again please read what I've said and please don't make assumptions.

First MI was great, the rest have been shithouse. Can't believe they've been popular enough to make five of them, actually I take that back considering there are 7 Fast and the Furious movies and GI Joe got a sequel, MI franchise is amazing in comparison.

The Reverant: 8.5 out of 10. I loved this film. The scenery, quality cast and enjoyable story of revenge.

The Hateful Eight: 8 out of 10. A good film that grips you through out. Great Cast but one thing I will say that Quentin Taratino in most of his movies now theres always a part with a soundtrack playing in the background. Something he needs to stop doing as its been done to death and brings to many similarities to his other movies. I found that a bit annoying but overall it was a rather entertaining flick.

The Martian: 7 out of 10. Not a bad movie, felt like it dragged on a little bit to long.

Bridge of Spies: 8 out of 10. Tom Hanks was brilliant. Loved it.

The Room: 8 out of 10. Makes you think about life this film and for a film to have an effect on me as it did proves it was worthwhile watching it.

I read what you said.

I just figure most people would have half a clue of what MI is about.

First MI was great, the rest have been shithouse. Can't believe they've been popular enough to make five of them, actually I take that back considering there are 7 Fast and the Furious movies and GI Joe got a sequel, MI franchise is amazing in comparison.
I enjoy them for what they are. I don't expect them to be realistic.

Was going to wait to watch the Lobster, but managed to catch a showing last night, mainly because it feels like this was one of the more popular films on this thread this/last year.

Pretty great in the end.

Have seen Dogtooth and Alps from Lanthimos before, and would sandwich this in between those two. Dogtooth truly is a wonderful, horrific film. But this hit all the right insane beats.

8/10.

Finally watched Boyhood last night and thoroughly enjoyed it, even at 2.5 hours. Great concept and must have been hard to get all the actors back at the right time for each advancement. Appreciated the long range of the project and was enthrall end with the story.

X men First class & Days of future past, both excellent movies, maybe even the best since the original. Fassbender and McAvoy are both great, makes me excited for the next one with Oscar Issac as apocalypse.
