As a father I felt an incredible connection with Leo's character stopping at nothing to avenge his sons murder at the hands of that scheming, greedy scumbag and I'm sure many other fathers will too.
The wonder of film that we can see the same thing and experience different things.

Watched a few over the weekend, in addition to The Revenant, got to see...

Dead Man - Featuring a young Johhny Depp in a black and white Western set in the 1800s. Weird soundtrack by Neil Young. Kind of a strange movie overall. Didn't really feel it. 5/10

Mandela Long Walk to Freedom - A pretty standard biopic. 6/10

Fargo - Coen brothers at their finest. Some great performances to go with an awesome story. 8/10

Saw the Revenant last night. Rolled on a bit longer than it needed to, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it.

Leo was brilliant, Tom Hardy just as good. Despite only filming in 2? locations, the $135m budget seemed fair.

The Big Short will be the next movie I watch. Looks very good.

Diablo : Revenge Western starring Scott (son of Clint) Eastwood, Walton Goggins, Danny Glover, think Eastwood jr is overchanneling his old man a bit too much, the squint, the talking through his teeth, smoking rolly's, etc, has inherited the looks and voice already, just an average time filler really, ending seemed a bit rushed, 4/10

Daddy's Home. My son wanted to go and see it !!!!

Will Ferrell plays Will Ferrell. Mark Wahlberg plays Mark Wahlberg. Doesn't break any new ground, but I laughed a few times and everybody lived happily ever after, so it ticks all of the boxes for a MOR Hollywood comedy.

Imagine trying to compete with Mark Wahlberg. Seriously !!!

The film is most notable for the most blatant product placement ever seen.

Ford Flex. This is shameless. Not remotely hidden.
Red Bull
Budweiser
Miracle Whip
Cinnabon - Saw these stores when I was in the States (Not sure if available in Australia).
Cinnamon Toast Crunch - Saw this when I was in the States (Not sure if available in Australia).
LA Lakers

There must have been some that I did not recognize.

Movie - 6/10

Spotlight - 6/10

I was really excited for this but it ended up being a very boring procedural. No characters, no suspense, shot like a telemovie. Really forgettable. Someone should do a documentary on the subject instead.
There is a fantastic film by Amy Berg called Deliver us from Evil from 2006 which has all you could hope for in an investigative documentary.

Nails the church to the wall.

I watched a out 25mins of "Million ways to die in the west". Far out, that was crap. I ended up changing it because it was really poor. There were scenes where he repeated himself over and over.
I must admit i have had poor form with films latley, but with a young son whos very busy most of the time i just chuck on something. Swing and a miss again. That seth guy really has a rude head

Cool. I'm really into docos at the moment, what with all the Thin Blue Line inspired crime series being released recently. I'll have to check it out.

Saw The Revenant last night and was a bit underwhelmed to be honest. It was beautifully shot, the score was very good, and DiCaprio's acting was (as usual) top notch, but I thought the storyline left a bit to be desired. I liked Glass and wanted him to get his revenge, but I didn't really care about him. I thought there was too much filler in the middle of the movie, too.

Same feeling as The Wolf of Wall Street for me. A good movie, but not memorable and certainly didn't live up to the hype.

It was a good movie and maybe even one of the years best but let's face it...............the standard overall last year was somewhat underwhelming.

Not sure I can tag any movie as a classic. I can't think of one.

2014 was better for sure, lots of quality that year. Ex Machina is my personal fave movie of 2015 (that said I'm still yet to see a few).
