Misery.

It's one that I had to re-watch because I was quite young when I last watched it and I recently read the book (well listened to the audiobook) for the first time. Kathy Bates really does nail the hell out of her character and gives it justice. James Caan is really good in it aswell. The book is considerably more disturbing though, even if the film is quite graphic in itself.

The Hitman's Bodyguard.

A big load of 'meh' this film was, thought it started out OK and then just got silly in the second and third acts and not the type of silly that I enjoy. The banter between Ryan Reynolds and Samual L Jackson was fun, but those guys could make just about any shit fun.

Also, why was Gary Oldman in this? He was completely wasted, the role he played could have been played by a random person off the street.

I am going to see this purely for the RR factor alone.

So if you give it a 6, that'll bump it to a 7, maybe an 8 for me ;)

PS. 1 week to go.

Really love the casting in this film, Forster, Grier, Keaton and even Tucker were fantastic. Then you have Samuel Jackson in one of his better performances and De Niro. Not one of Tarantinos better known flicks but I love it.

Get Out (2017)
Certainly a novel approach to the horror genre. I enjoyed it, but if you're after a genuinely scary film then look elsewhere. 3.5 stars
Just watched it then. Definitely not a scary film but geez it's thought provoking and has alot of tension.

I really enjoyed it. Didn't realise till after that Jordan Peele directed, was pleasantly surprised due to his previous stuff.

Hector and the search for happiness. Simon Pegg traveling the world looking for happiness, one of those movies where the fact that the main character is being selfish kind of gets glossed over.
It was like an English version of the Secret Life of Walter Mitty. It had some good moments and overall I enjoyed it. But the characters and scenes around the world were quite stereotyped. I think the ending was a bit trite which gave that feeling to the whole movie.

Comfortably his least watched I'd say.

The Big Sick - a sweet movie with likeable characters and actors (even Ray Romano!). The movie is probably a bit slight, and while it's based on a true story it is probably most interesting for lovingly depicting the modern migrant/2nd generation story in America. The 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes probably had me expecting a bit too much from it, basically expecting an Annie Hall of our times, but it was a good date movie, and nice to see, alongside Master of None on Netflix, these kinds of stories and characters getting told.
98% on Rotten Tomatoes means 98% of critics give it a pass mark, not critics rate it 4.9 stars.

The Evil Dead (remake)

I saw this when it was first released and compared it to the original movies (The Evil Dead 1 & 2 are two of my favourite horror/comedies) and that was a big mistake.

The Evil Dead is alot like playing the new Doom game, just flat out action with no real development needed and taking that approach made me like the film a bit better - it's definitely got some terrific imagery. The characters are still horrible, all completely forgettable outside of Jessica Lucas who is only memorable for how good she looked even covered in bloody puke. It definitely packs a punch though, doesn't hold back, violent as **** and definitely fun but the characters and their stupidity just make it a typical slasher flick, with a curse instead of a masked killer.

Rememory - Looked forward to seeing Dinklage in something other than GOT & he is quite good in this but unfortunately that's where the positives end - 4/10.
