Do we want to beat Carlton or will it rob us of a higher draft pick?. Will it cost Carton to win ?. If that's the case what a farce. Fair dinkum I know that we have had our injuries and Neale got the arse, but we must be tanking as well as Carlton have been.

There is a flaw in the system and whoever wins round 22 is anyones guess.

0-0 draw.

I agree though. The system is seriously flawed. Priority picks are a joke. I think have a lottery for the bottom four teams, whilst the rest of the league picks in reverse order of the ladder post-finals.

The players won't be thinking tank - especially because for half of the players on either team it could be their last game. Having said that my money's on Carlton beating us off the park the way they're playing at the moment compared to us.

It'd be interesting though to see. I mean, if the Blues don't win a game before then, they'll be getting pick 1 if they lose that one...but if they win, then every other team gets a pick higher, so I know I'll be hoping for a Blues win. However, what if neither team wanted to win?

Vlad is blind. PPs should be cut.

If you win no more than 8 games over 2 years you get priority picks. I think you can win no more than 5 games in either of the years.
Not sure where they pick.

Win less than four games get a PP after the first round (17,18 etc). Do it for two years in a row (8 games in 2 years) get a PP before the first round (pick 1).

So presuming Richmond, Melbourne and Carlton don't win another game until round 22.

If Melbourne win (and dont overtake the blues on percentage):

Carlton PP 1, Richmond 2, Melbourne 3, Carlton 4.......Richmond PP 18, Melbourne PP 19, Richmond 20, Melbourne 21 Carlton 22

If Carlton win
Richmond 1, Melbourne 2, Carlton 3......Richmond PP 17, Melbourne PP 18, Richmond 19, Melbourne 20, Carlton 21.

So the only difference for us is that we get pick 3 not 2, and every other pick is one later. Carlton have the most to gain with not winning another game, getting PP number 1 - adding another top draft pick to their collection. So whilst we do gain a little from not winning the game, the whole competition gains more by not giving Carlton another PP. Lets all hope Essendon loses to Carlton in round 20 to end this saga.

Yes I believe priority pick situation has become a farce this year.
Situation is not as bad as the furore that surrounded Melbourne in 2003 and our getting Sylvia as the priority but still is a farce this year.

All said and done I still want to see Melbourne kick Carlton's butt in Rnd 22.

Go Dees!

After Richmond's win we could POSSIBLY end up with Pick 1 IF:

Carlton win another game. They have Port, Essondon, North and us.
Richmond win another game. They have West Coast, Dons and Saints.
Melbourne don't win another game. We have Dogs, Pies, Freo and Carlton.

I don't even know why i said that because it probably won't happen but it would be immensly funny if it did.

Its not really that unlikely. We don't look close to winning another game at the moment and Carlton look like beating us in round 22. Leaving Richmond only having to beat Essendon at the G in round 21, which I'd give them a good chance of doing.

I can see us beating the Pie's but that's about it. Carlton have been a bogey side for us ala last year. So it really depends on, imo who's got what to gain come round 22.

Gaining only one pick higher dosen't necissarily mean that we will get a better player because the draft is a bit of a lottery.

Que sara sara, whatever will be will be ?

And because we usually botch Top 10 picks

P.S - Are we all punting the Blues home in the 4th quarter in Adelaide? I'll accept finishing 15th as long as it's due to actual circumstance and not us pulling the pin.
