Heard on 3aw that wayne campbell was relegated to the possibles team for disciplanary reasons. Not much more info but looks like poor old campbo is finally being taken to task about his poor disposal and or some other indescrestion. Any one else got any info??

Looks like a mid season retirement coming up if he doesnt lift his game.

If Campbell is being dropped to the 'possibles' for poor disposal then the rest of the team should be relegated to the 'improbables'.

Here's an article that appeared on the Tiger's site:

Campbell a 'possible' for one day only

Former Richmond captain Wayne Campbell has turned out for the 'Possibles' - a team containing several youngsters and fringe players against the 'Probables' in the Tigers intra-club clash at McHale Stadium on Wednesday.

Richmond coach Terry Wallace said the move was partly for Campbell to lead the inexperienced players, but he was adamant the champion Tiger, like the rest of the players at the club, was no walk-up start.

"We just needed some experience in that younger group," Wallace said after the match.

"We are looking towards the future and so really all the situation was, was having some experience in the other side, but we know Wayne's an experienced player and he'll step up when the time need be.

"We only had 18 running around in that side (the 'Possibles') and we've got 24 running around next Friday night, so you'd suggest he'd be one of them, wouldn't you?

"He knew that we were still in trial mode and we wanted to put a few of the young boys through their paces to see if they could step-up and he just took that professionally."

Wallace said Campbell reacted like a professional when he was told he would be playing in the 'Possibles' line-up.

The new Richmond coach said the announcement of the club's new captain would not be made for another two or three weeks.

I think this whole Campbell saga has been played way out of proportion. He will play most of the season considering he is fit. Its just another way of putting the Tigers on the back page of the HS tomorrow morning....

playing him in the possibles sends a message to every player no one will be a walk up start and also sends a message to supporters and other teams the tigers gonna be hard arsed this year even if we dont win a heap of games we gonna be competitive ...just for a change lol

most likely to be playing. they shoulda put a few more players into the possibles to make sure they know they are no automatic selection (even if they are...lol) . eg gaspar, rodan, tiva, kellaway etc.....

What's the big deal with playing Campbell in the Wizard Cup anyway? Surely they'd be better off trialing one of the kids.

Campbell is still easily in our best 22. He'll definitely be there against Geelong in Round 1.

Wouldn't worry about who plays where in intra-club games, or Wizard Cup for that matter. This is a time for experiments.

Remember that we have 24 in the wizz fizz so there's room for Campbell. I look forward to see him playing out of a pocket as he is a good mark on the lead and a good kick for goal.

I must admit I wont be disappointed when campbell retires. He's given us a lot and won 4 B&F's (during our worst and darkest hours) but he's passed it and his kicking lacks any penetration.

Time to move on Wayne.

Maybe its the wake up call he needs. Terry is doing the right thing by making all the changes he has. Thankfully its Campbells last year and more importantly he gave up the captaincy.

Gee, how quickly people forget. Either that or still holding a grudge against his aborted departure from Punt Rd, more than FIVE YEARS AGO.

We haven't had a lot to cheer about in the past couple of years but Campbell has nothing to apologize for. He's an absolute professional and has played consistently at a very high level. He deserves to go out on his terms, and this may not be his last year. Playing off a HBF or up forward may extend his career by a year or two. Our kids will need guidance and I think you'll find that none have been better than Campbo over the past few years in this area.

I don't think there's any story about Campbell - it's purely player management. If he doesn't play this week, it would be for a good reason - WHY?

Nothing to be gained from extending the season of a player who has suffered injuries in recent seasons, is one of the veterans and doesn't have to prove a thing.

If he's not in contention for a game during the season, then i think you'd have reason to ask what's the go with Cambo, but a bit early IMO to write him off.

If Brown doesn't play then I'd expect to see Campbell playing, but if Brown is ok then there's a good chance they will rest Wayne.
