In the WA Country chamionships which just concluded last weekend the A section final winner was Upper Great Southern Football League.
This league is made up of teams from Boddington, Brookton/Pingelly, Kukerin-Dumbleyung, Narrogin Eagles, Narrogin Towns, Wagin,Wickepin, Williams and West Arthur.
Other leagues are, Avon,Eastern Districts, Great Northern, Great Southern, South West,
B section leagues, Central Midland, Central Wheatbelt, Mortlock, North Midlands, Ongerup and Ravensthorpe.

I immediately thought of Ovens & Murray as well Mobbsie, but it depends on the context.

In terms of quality players it would be O & M, but the local Tallangatta League gets bigger crowds, believe it or not.

Do you mean the O&M get sheizenhausen crowds? Or do you mean the Tallangatta FL actually get good crowds? Because they's not the biggest places, involved in the Tallangatta FL. Dederang is a darn small place, and Sandy Creek has recently been renamed Evendeaderagainerang.

LOL & "Mobbsie"

That seems suprising, that because the population demographics point to the oppsite being the truth.

I'ts good that the Tallangatta FL gets good crowds, but it would suprise me that a Yarrawonga or a Myrtleford would get small crowds being the only team in the town, and for any other team in the O & M, for that matter purely and simply because of the quality of football on offer.

Around the Goulburn Valley, nearly all the clubs are well supported in either the GVFL and the Murray F.L, as well as the smaller leagues like the Kyabram DFL, and the Picola DFL.

Thats a ridiculous statement, go to a corowa/yarrawonga game and you get 3000, hop along to a wangaratta derby and you get around the same, Wodonga derby's the same, myrtelford would average around 700. Sure there are teams such as lavington that haven't got the biggest supporter base but to suggest that teams such as thurgoona and kiewa can draw comparable crowds to the O and M is stupid. I've been to tallangatta games and on a good day they would be lucky to draw 500 let alone games that draw inexcess of 1000

colby colbert selected a number of players from the geelong league 4 the vcfl's div 1 side which won the 06 title on the gold coast
so clearly he reckons the geelong league is pretty significant even tho it did NOT contest the 2006 Div 1 championships
gisborne from the bendigo leag had 3 representatives, the most from any 1 single club, in the vcfl div 1 side

I think that the strongest league would have to be the ACT. They had 6 teams to choose a rep side from for the Country Championships and finished 2nd. From all reports if the goal umpire wasn't blind they would have won the carnival. Not bad from a league that had only 6 clubs to select a rep side from.
