You don't think that Stiffy and Lyon are in our best 22

You don't think that Sando made a defining error in selecting Pets and Nutter in the Prelim

you don't think that at any stage Porpy or Dmac could have been dropped this year

My concern is this, Sando has an extremely Cosy relationship with the large core of players and players are playing with little fear of being dropped

Let's not sugar coat this, regardless of the Tippett situation there were payers that should have been dropped this year and there were pkayers available to come in to the side with better frm in the sanfl
Lyons yes, stiffy no.

Sando has a huge problem and one if he knew about before signing he probably would reconsider.

He got picked up as a new coach, so match day coaching was always going to be a learning curve for him. It was totally out of his control the person hired to help on this has been suspended.

He was also hired on the promise of a spike, obviously spikes have a downward part, but he is smart, deliver a good 1st year get fan support so when the team starts to struggle you can start the culling because you are in a good draft position... and not many clubs sack coaches after 1 bad season.

How was he to know he had walked into one of the most inept administrations in the AFL and his CEO would not only lose the clubs highest paid player, but also 2 or 3 first rounders, and 2 or 3 second rounders in his 2 and and 3rd year, just when he should be get ready for glory?

Sando has been handed a dud deal and his career put on barbed wire thanks to the AFCs ineptitude.

Tonight has shown us how far from a premiership we really are. Our list as it, is isn't going to win us a flag ever.

I know we don't have picks, but the rest of this season is about identifying those who we keep for the rebuild. We have to trade some of our endless list of vanilla, average performers to get back in the draft and start what will be at least a 3 year plan. IMO, Danger, Sloane, Talia & Walker are the only untradables.

We were outclassed by Sydney, players couldn't keep up with the intensity and did not look like they could have made any clean disposals the whole night bar the last 10 minutes of the final quarter. I like Sando and I still have absolute confidence in him.

This will be a major wake up call...

Our selection panel is sending us into games with a hand behind our back.

Sando is a terrible game day coach.

If Sando is a terrible game day coach I don't know what you make of Craig? We've had twice as many come from behind victories under Sando than Craig mustered in 7 years.

I agree though there is an issue with our gamestyle though. We need to find some groundbreaking new tactic that is going to open things up.

I was almost thinking today after halftime that Sando go full circle and have 6 stay at home forwards and 6 stay home backs and play 1990s football. Nothing to lose.

I think I have been patient before jumping on this freight train but I honestly don't think Van Berlo is in our best 22...????

Sando needs to show he is as good a coach as I think he is, it's such a fine line building a relationship with players and then being ruthless as well. For mine - Petrenko gone provides very little, Van Berlo offers even less, Lyons to play consistently as well as Porps {has talent} Reilly thin ice too many crucially bad decisions, but will he tow the company line this will decide his coaching potential.

He's in trouble and why he is forward is beyond me. His spot is half back.

I missed the end of the Brodie Smith interview on 5AA but straight after they were talking about Sando needing to lose the nice guy routine with the players once and awhile and let rip. Im not sure if that was a response to Smith saying he did lose it.

There are some issues which need to be addressed.

Selection, this has been discussed plenty.
Positional moves. Get Henderson out of ****ing defence and never play him there again. They asked Bickley about this before the game and he gave a wishy washy answer.
Not going the hard tag. Hannelbury had 28 disposals at half time, WTF!

But the biggest issue and the issue which should be the easiest to fix. Get them to play like animals. We lack intensity. We dont work hard enough. We cant ****ing tackle. Thats all comes down to attitude, which brings me back to the first paragraph. Is he hard enough on the players?

To conclude, I am a SUPPORTER of Sando however if he wants to be a long term coach he needs to be prepared to inject the right level of tension with his players
 Huhhh ? ......Stiify an Wright out of side not tough calls?

You have to have players available to replace players out of form ....can't bring someone in who is worse simply for the sake of chnge

Sando is far better than Craig!

Sando is a mid-range match day coach - behind Horse, Lyon, etc, but he lacks experience & he lacks Bailey!

Disagree completely ......you just don't know this statement is true ....it's just your opinion

This board said just 3 weeks ago Kerridge is now a best 22 player .......would people be still saying this after today

Lyons is not strong enough over the ball ...would have been pushed around too easily ....that's my opinion

Yep, he was terrible down there.

The Game style/plan needs some serious tweaking. A few things I'd be paying a lot of attention to

- Defensive coverage of opposition spread from clearance or any 50/50 contest
- Our spread from a contest, we don't know how to get open (this is highlighted against good defensive sides)
- Our forwardline press is basically non existent. I'd go one on one from kickins. We create very few goals from turnovers in our forwardline.
- Our kickins are deplorable. When we don't have an option the bail out is to Sauce or a tall on the flank. This almost never works and also we actually don't go wide enough down the line to at least get the ball out of bounds. For once I'd love to see a long kick straight down the middle to a one on one contest. It maybe more risky, but the reward is very high.
- Forward structure. Our forwards are not dangerous at all when they push up the ground towards the wing. Often because they encounter a 1 on 2 or a 2 on 3.

We have a conservative coaching panel, a conservative game plan and an ultra conservative back office. As a result we're being left behind and tonight made it pretty clear how far off the pace we are.

This can either be a watershed moment for our footy club as a whole or it can be the start of a rapid deterioration. What direction it takes is almost entirely in Sando's hands.

Agree that some tough calls need to be made on one or two senior players and we need to reinvent ourselves somewhat.

Sloane and Talia aren't untradables.

Sloane, i'd sort of agree with. But he's the type of character you want at a footy club. Cheeky and busts his gut and gives his all. I wouldn't trade him FWIW. He's the heart

Talia? Surely you jest. He's so important to our structure, especially when the Truck pulls up and calls stumps. He's the spine that will keep the defense together and keep the opposition key forwards quiet

it would have been beneficial for him to feel the heat of the best in the business... for our younger players, today will be one of the best lessons they will ever get on how to play footy... as surely the focus needs to shift from this year to development for next season... which means some pain ahead but games into kids and the senior players getting the SANFL treatment...

Good call smoovy, was about to write something exactly like this.:thumbsu::thumbsu: Hope someone from the AFC reads this during the week.

These two points are the biggest problem atm. Sandos mantra of winning the contested ball means too many of our players are drawn to the contest and are not free. We haven't been winning enough in close and so opposition mids sit goal side and whooshka its off the races with no extra cover out the back.

Time for a big name to get dropped and a very strong message be sent go the playing group.

We didn't lose tonight because of the coach, we lost tonight and embarrassed ourself because we have a shit attitude.

Tackling is 95% attitude and 5% technique. If they don't have the correct attitude and desire to work hard, you will lose every week.

I don't think so, it's easy to drop a player in his veteran years

Needs to drop Radar and Dmac for starters
