You really are exquisitely stupid.
I'm very educated, I guess my most passionate subject is ethics. I come here to the give the unwashed a smile, the odd laugh etc. I like to enrich the lives of others, even at my own expense.

But you, m8... you just repeat the same crap over and over and make threads less enjoyable for everyone. It seems mildly sociopathic to me. Let me know if you a bit of life coaching n whatnot.

You advertise your cluelessness over and over. It's bizarre.

I forgot to mention, there is a charge involved if you wish to receive my life coaching.
It's not government-subsidised like the education you received while simultaneously complaining about big government?

You're the mouse who claims to dislike cheese until he gets hungry.

Let me know when you manage to understand your own arguments/positions. Until then, tell everyone more about how being conservative is all about liking Christmas.

Is this just a copy paste of every reply you give to me?

You'll be horrified to learn that I received public primary schooling, as well as plenty of Medicare and PBS subsidised products.

Let me know when you have a coherent response.

Should I cut and paste from Quora instead?

I can both despise socialism whilst also defending government spending to a degree. Do you think that conservativism means demanding no gov spending of anything, ever? Not even a military?

You're looking at the extremes m8. You are up to $2200 in fees for life coaching now. I accept crypto

How do you distinguish between the socialism you "despise" and the government spending on public services that you defend? Is it simply a matter of whether it benefits you?

You say you "despise socialism". What do you mean by that? Do you even know? You just regurgitate talking points.

The government is paying for people's health care and education. Isn't that socialism? And you "despise socialism". So how can you defend it?

Do you think that conservativism means demanding no gov spending of anything, ever? Not even a military?
No, I don't think that's what it means to be conservative but you don't appear to understand what that word means either so what kind of discussion do you imagine us having about that?

You're unable to define conservatism beyond liking Christmas.

There are, however, bad faith actors on the right who'll decry any government intervention they don't like as "socialism". It's nonsense. Was Obama a "socialist" for trying to provide more people health insurance? Do you "despise" that as well?

Does your talking point cover this or is this where your grasp of the subject maxes out?

I'm just wondering if you're capable of a single coherent thought.

What extremes am I looking at? I'm talking about health care and education and asking you why you defend them if you claim to "despise socialism".

And, as usual, you'll be totally incapable of explaining yourself because you don't know anything. How many times does your gaping ignorance need to be demonstrated and fed back to you before the penny drops?

I support a mixed, Aussie style system of capitalism ÷ a safety net (I'd actually support an increase in dole payments these days, and better mental health services).

I'm sorry I don't fit into an Oxford Dictionary version of what you call conservatism, or any other labels. Are you progressive on 100% of issues homie?

So when you say you "despise socialism" what is it exactly you despise? Do you know? Or do you just say it?

If you support a safety net, what do you think of the criticisms of Obamacare as "socialism" coming from Republicans like your hero Trump? Is expanded health care coverage "socialism"? Is that something you "despise"?

It's almost like they're lying about a policy you'd generally support to demonise their opponents. And you're on board because you're too dumb to spot the bullshit.

I'm sorry I don't fit into an Oxford Dictionary version of what you call conservatism, or any other labels.
How would you know? It's not like you know what any of the words mean.

You say you "despise socialism" but can't say what that means. You variously identify as "conservative" or the "mischievous new right" but can't say what that means either. You just regurgitate talking points without considering the logical implications of the positions or whether one contradicts the next.

It's like you don't understand any of your own arguments but still want something to say. In other words, you're an imbecile. That's one dictionary definition that fits you like a glove.

Are you progressive on 100% of issues homie?
I don't think I've ever called myself a "progressive".

I'd say I'm broadly left-leaning with a secular libertarian bent on social issues but with some low-key conservative/internationalist impulses when it comes to the importance of institutions. And I'm hostile to bullshit, stupidity and dishonesty generally. Hence my contempt for you.

Am I wrong about anything in this post?

You seem to be think that any gov spending is socialism. I break away from your definition of "conservatism" when it comes to the Aussie system of Medicare and gun control. Sorry I don't neatly fit in the definition you consider as gospel.

I don't think that at all. That is however the bad faith argument often wheeled out by folks on the right to demonise their opponents. Obamacare = socialism! OMG can't have that!

My position is that there is an ongoing discussion worth having about which services should be provided by the government, which services should be left to the private sector and which services should be offered both privately and publicly. And demonising any service funded or administered by the government as "socialism" is idiotic. But that's what the RW does when it suits them.

So I'm asking you, when you say you "despise socialism", what is it you despise? Do you despise government-funded health care and education? If not, what is the socialism you "despise"?

Why can't you answer this most straightforward question about your own argument? Or is it just something you say, a slogan to be parroted, that doesn't actually mean anything?

I break away from your definition of "conservatism" when it comes to the Aussie system of Medicare and gun control. Sorry I don't neatly fit in the definition you consider as gospel.
So tell me what it means in your mind.

You say you "despise socialism" but can't say what that means.

You say you're "conservative" but can't say what that means either.

Do you understand anything you say?

Can you see why I think you're an idiot?

I don't see why the conservativism conversation was out of bounds. Not all conservatives are racist but most, if not all, racists are conservative in some way shape or form.

If you believe in ethics then you must believe in some form of objective good. what do you believe is the objective good?

I don't get this argument. Your choice of an ethical framework is subjective surely.

People don’t believe they choose what’s ethical. They believe something is ethical or unethical because to them it is objectively so.

ethics doesnt exist if we believe it’s subjective. Theres just behaviours without any right or wrong that can be attributed to them. We can have subjective preferences. But they can’t be ethical actions if they aren’t objectively so.

Maybe I misunderstood your comment. What you want to know is FK's subjective view of what the objective good is.

I don't think there is such a thing as objective ethics. For example, I hear some Nordic countries ban the desexing of animals, as it is considered cruel mutilation. I personally believe that animals can live even happier lives after being desexed, and you wind up with far less unwanted puppies and stray dogs and cats in society.

Ethics is like the meaning of words, or even the value of money... It is what ever society broadly agrees for it to be. Eg if an old lady is struggling to carry her shopping bags across the street, we'd nearly all agree that politely assisting her would be a kind action, whilst laughing at her misfortune and mocking her would be bad. Clear as mud?
