will Port Magpies let him play the 2 matches he needs to get 100 matches for them under his belt (and a permanent locker as is Port tradition)? I wonder if he's even thinking about this. It would be good to have him honoured in this way though, wouldn't it?

Certainly would. I hope he comes back and plays a full season, not just 2 games!!!

LOL! The way he's going he'll be pushing 50 when he retires.

Good on him too!

I have no doubts that Port would let him run out in the guernsey for the necessary games.
Hope it is against us, be a damn good crowd puller.

It would be eminently appropriate, given that (I think) Bradley was actually a Sturt fan as a kid.....

I do not believe that under normal circumstances Port - or any club - would allow a bloke to play for 2 matches for the sole reason of qualifying for a name on a locker.

The coach puts a team out on the paddock to win - not to satisfy the personal urges of any one player. I think it is far more likely that Port would bend the rules for Bradley since he is regarded as one of the club's best - and inscribe his name on a locker with only 98 games.

Now if Bradley was return to Port as a regular player, well that would be a different story, obviously.

Having said all that - in certain circumstances some clubs have given players a short run on the field in order to qualify them for personal milestones - but this has always been in matches of no consequence, usually towards the end of a season when the club knows it isn't going to be in the finals. (If Port wasn't a perennial finalist then Bradley might have stood a chance this way

A couple of examples (from memory) - in 1990 Woodville played Ralph Sewer in at least one league match, allowing him to become the only footballer in the country to have played in 4 distinct decades at the top level (1969-1990). Also in West Torrens last match as a unique identity it played a guy on the bench, giving him a run in the last quarter, to qualify him for some milestone (I forget what; perhaps SANFL membership?). I also forget the name of the bloke involved; from memory it was that guy who suffered spinal injuries from diving into the shallow end of a pool, earlier in his career. Does anyone remember his name?

The player's name was Ian Hanna and I think the milestone was his 200th game.

As far as the Bradley issue goes I don't think Port would allow him to come back and play just 2 games. I think if Bradley came back he would play an entire season anyway. He is probably fitter than most SANFL footballers and I believe he still has the hunger to play football. So it wouldn't supprise me to see Bradley in that Port Adelaide guersney again in the next year or 2.

Yep IAN SCRUFF HANNA - did break his neck and came on about the 15 minute mark in the last quarter, when the game was (lost - or is it won)and was awarded a holding the ball decision in front of goal - dubiously by an umpire. He kicked the goal.
That day was a good one - 7770 fans there - where have all these supporters gone now is what i want to know.
It was his 200th game for torrens.

An interesting one from this game was the reporting of the WEED for stiking darren klemm. Surprisingly he got off the charge - with help from his new preseason training team mate!!

Thanks for the info, carb & eddie...

Great story! IIRC Woodville won by a fairly handy margin, but Torrens won the reserves, allowing them to clinch 5th spot and go on to win the flag.

Ha, better story!
