Just had to start this thread after the night I have had.

Was at fitness class last night when I noticed fire trucks racing up the main road. Didn't think anything of it, as it is near a cement factory which always seems to have problems. Just before my class ended, my younger brother met me to tell me not to head to my parents' place afterwards. My mum had been heating oil for spaghetti, the whole thing combusted into flames, flew up through the exhaust fan, took hold of the ceiling and that was it.

The roof and part of the framework was destroyed, air con and foxtel dish is gone, the kitchen, one bedroom and the living room have completely disappeared and furniture, carpet and electrical goods have been damaged beyond repair by smoke and water from pipes which had melted and burst.

Anyhoo my parents have to stay with my brother and I and luckily their shed was not touched. We loaded a portable freezer onto my brother's ute as we have a stack of frozen food we cant fit at our place. Half way there, the freezer falls off the ute and smashes into bits across the main road.

Get back to our place, heating up leftovers (it was 2 am and none of us had eaten), our microwave blows up killing the power to half of our house.

Get up this morning, dad due to met insurance assessor, gets to their house to discover the entire roof and framework has collapsed in on itself. House will have to be demolished, I am now living with my parents again.

Good thing is that everyone is fine, no one was hurt, pets are ok, but geez when stuff happens - it happens!!

Anyone else got any stories similar?

I like the way you completely omit whether or not your parents were harmed in any way or make mention of how lucky they are but you include this part.

Thank god the shed is okay.

Thats ****ed up, incredibly sad and cant be matched.

Out of pure curiosity (and all due respect) were the dad and son in a car accident or something similar or in seperate incidents?

some heartless pricks on here.
have a bit of sympathy for her situation, at least that sounds like your bad luck has come in 3's.

Jacqui! You poor thing, hope things pick up for you and your family, you're due for some good luck I reckon!

I think in the Herald Sun last week a couple were in hospital and left days later while their baby was to be kept in observation. The parents died in a car accident shortly after leaving the hospital, then the following day the infant died of complications in hospital. Horrible to read about.

The late Rob Dickson's wife, Dusty, has had it bloody tough. Lost her husband and both sons in the space of a week.
